Gas and Electricity prices

we heat the house mainly with a wood burner, the wood is scraps i pick up from work so this costs nothing

we do have central heating but this is just used for about 1/2 an hour in the morning to heat the house before we get out of bed

every light in the house is either LED or fluorescent and has been for about 10 years

i'm not really sure on what we could cut down on to save any more

maybe eat more sandwiches to save the cooker being on

Im going to make a hay box to save on gas when making stews and the like. Weve resisted putting the heating on until this week then its only for an hour until the coal fire is roaring nicely.

 

Green deal is fun reading NOT.

everyone must be struggling [some more than others,]

in the last 2 years,
food prices have risen over 25%+
and fuel prices have risen by 40 % ,

i bought a gallon of dwiesel in a can last week .. it was £7.30... :-

i dont see anyone getting 60% pay increases.... :-[

 

When I was young I was scared of the dark.

Now when I see my electricity bill I am scared of the lights.

 

We are still being tight and haven't put the heating on yet. Fire in the evening at weekends and as the mrs child minds the cooker is on in the evening as well which heats the house a fair bit.

Modern meters don't work back to front they have some sort of baffle in them .

 

British gas are starting to do external insulation early next year .it in involves fixing 50mm kingspan to the walls and metal lath with a render coat .brining all the windows out and making good inside .grants are supposed to pay for it and they reckon on 7 weeks to do one house including a tent over the house

 

I'm loving the British Gas advert they have just released about fix and fall prices. I don't buy it.
