Once you could watch it on BBC TV and the players were just well paid. More fool you for continuing to be hooked into a tribal media dependency loop. There are cheaper things to do than support or watch football these days.
Too true Mike, I've given up chasing subscriptions and just have Sky sports for the cricket and odd games, I tend to go and watch my local team (Holbeach) these days. For a tenner I can get in, have a brew at half time and a post match beer or two.
It's the United counties league, I may have to fork out a couple of extra quid for the second beer though
Why do we have fuel shortages and gas prices hoiking? I would quote ‘follow the money’ . There must be folk who may or may not be able to engineer these problems (for us mere mortals) who are making money from it. Or there is the possibility, that Ian Hislop has pondered in the past, are those in rule just seeing what absolute rubbish they can actually get away with without the general public calling for their heads (metaphorically)
I'd say with football the opposite happened, if you wanted to watch live TV matches, it was monopolized by taking BSkyB's money. But there weren't many live televised games anyway, mostly FA cup which you can still get on the BBC. Sky then milked the subscriptions by insisting you had to have other TV packages as well, you couldn't have just Sport and it's still the same today.
Good on you, but you have to admit the standard of football is $hite! You have to adopt the 'never let the football spoil a day out at football' approach....
You could also ask why are the energy retailers also allowed to be the the energy suppliers and energy generators? Monopoly and cartel springs to mind.....
Now the idiots still have full tanks today I drove straight into a petrol station and had a choice of pumps to use. There was never a shortage as such it was just the press stirring it up and the idiots creating a massive surge in demand.
Just got back from Burton On Trent and found it easy to get diesel before I left, straight in with no queue, just a £35 limit but as soon as I got back locally people were queuing for fuel and causing traffic jams.
Driving through Harrogate en route to t'lakes I spotted a garage with only a couple of people filling up so dipped in and filled up - 39 quid at £1.47 per Lt... Didn't realise until I got back in the car and was informed by the good lady there was a huge sign informing the great unwashed of a 30 quid limit..... I am that (accidental) twonk but in my defence it was needed and WILL get used as we're on an adventure .... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
