so, mercedes getting closer- maybe if they'd avoided the hard tyre they would have been closer to max? ricciardo used mediums and softs and he had a pretty good race - if hamilton had had the same tyres would have done better?
I can't work out why Mercedes didn't hedge their bets and split Lewis and George's strategies, especially after George stayed out longer in the first stint. Leaving him out and then putting hards on anyway made no sense whatsoever. Now it had been Ferrari I wouldn't have been surprised....
I think they would have still been second on the same soft - medium strategy and their approach was to do something different expecting the medium to drop off more than it did. I also couldn't understand why they didn't do something with Russel. If the popped on so softs they would have still been fourth, could have challenged Perez, may have even had a domino effect of Perez pitting, then Ham to allow him a run on the softs. I can't remember the detail of quali - did Merc use more soft tyres than Red Bull?
Nope… it’s not worth getting up or staying up for that’s for sure but I will still watch it in the hope of seeing old cloggy boy chuck it at the scenery! Yes he’s good but I can’t stand him. Still not happy with last years outcome tbh!
Indeed and last years even more contentious, due to RBR apparent overspend. Friends have sky, I ask them if it’s worth watching and then catch the highlights on c4
Woohoo! Very much enjoyed that race. Good to see the mercs properly back in contention, clearly faster than the Ferraris and at least one of the Red Bulls on the day. Bodes well for next year and good to see a bit of that petulance from Max getting him into trouble!! That lad was getting a bit too big for his boots!
Yes he's a brilliant driver, but I really don't like Max Verstappen. Selfish, petulant nob. Completely lacking in humility and nobility. Some "team-mate" eh?! Great effort from Russell and Alonso. Excellent drive by Hamilton Next year could be fun in the Mercedes camp though. Neither driver is very team-spirited
I dunno… hopefully Ham gains an early season advantage for title 8 and then Russell supports him for the season, plays the long gain and then wins 7 championships when Hamilton retires! Not sure what all the nonsense with Max was at the end. No I in team. I think he should be reminded of how Perez was a mobile road block for Hamilton in Abu Dhabi last year before the stewards intervened… or the way that Perez is driving round in a car that is not suited to his style because Max wants it his way.
