  2. getting away for our trips and meeting up with family and friends is a drag, strange how some of us miss out whereas others carry on as normal. Like a place we booked our T6 to have carpet lined are emailing to make sure we still drop it off ! (that cant be essential really can it ? ) on down side I still have to work as normal as food industry refurbs are essential :(

We’re trying to work out a way to see both my parents and our granddaughter at Christmas without putting the elders at greater risk - assuming we can see anybody.

They can’t carpet line your van from home, so they can stay open...

We are too. I think mum and dad are okay to come to ours, but my eldest and his other half may have to stay away.

  8. thats correct my point is they can stay still trade so whats the benefit of the lockdown as most businesses cant operate from home and you will still mix with people outside of your close bubble. So whats the difference from this type of business to that of others that have had to shut.

As an aside. We have all been wearing masks to go in shops and work etc for a couple of months yet the outbreak has suddenly got worse these last few weeks, which begs the question how effective are they really?

@davidoft I’m beginning to think the herd immunity thing is inevitable as the measures taken so far seem pretty futile.

herd immunity was always inevitable, the manner in which its achieved is the bit in question and how many people die in the process

  18. I thought herd immunity was unlikely as the antibodies created have been shown not to last very long

  19. The number of positive cases has risen exponentially but that’s bound to happen when you are testing millions of more people than you did in the beginning..... I’m not saying testing doesn’t work but we have to look at the results objectively.... I think the relaxation of restrictions in ‘the first wave’ happened too quickly with everything being reopened at once so who could know where the problem lies? Open non essential shops- check results, if all is good open gyms- check results, if all is good open pubs/restaurants - check results if cases spike - shut them again - check results.... whilst doing this reinforce mask wearing/social distancing AND police it properly & forcefully.

Which makes you wonder about vaccines, isn’t that the end goal of a vaccine to help the body create antibodies?
