F1 fans, are you any nearer to getting the races this year?

  1. As I work for Sky, i can tell you, after hearing 'things' and seeing some trial filming that was done a bit back, even as not a great f1 fan, that the f1 coverage on Sky is going absolutely fantastic. They will be covering every angle of f1, not just the race and pre race build up, but a lot of behind the scene stuff and technical things that generally people won't have seen before, like following 'Dave' who changes the rear right wheel on race day, to find out what he has to do the rest of the time when not at a race. I can't say too much as I'm not allowed until the 9th. You will be able to watch on your mobile or pc etc via sky go app too, perfect for when camping. Oh and sky haters, I'd say most of the blame of sky getting f1 is good old mr ecclestone trying to fill his pockets a little more.....

  2. BBC-only coverage for me. Got Sky (my desire to get more than four channels outweighs my dislike for the Murdochs) but we ain't got hi-def and I ditched sports cos we weren't getting our money's worth.

I got really bored with F1 for a while but think the racing has improved in the last couple of seasons and the Beeb's coverage has been superb. Very disappointed they've lost the full rights but I suppose poor wee Bernie really does need the extra cash.

  4. ^ I know, but to be honest I'm not so into F1 to pay £120 a year just for that and we ain't getting an HD telly till the old CRT explodes.

  8. I was gutted when Murray Walker stop commentating, then when the started putting adverts in the middle of races I gave up on it.

I now here they have some kind of electric boost button! Wtf is that all about?

I must admit it does seem to be more about who has the better car and not so much the better driver nowadays. It should be everyone has an identicle car and then it's left down to who can drive is best.

    Just my 2 cents.

? i dunno if you're having a go or not mate, all i am doing at the moment is testing i can get F1 by not paying for it, RTL will be used with 5live comms if it works, if not then at least i can see it on lappy, i don't care who provides the pictures.

  15. I never have a go at anyone mate. Not in my nature. There are a lot of sky haters out there though. who rush out and do what they can to get access to sky for free whenever they can

Still trying to push out a Cleveland Steamer so we're still on pause. I'll probably watch it in the morning
    :)

im not a sky hater as such i just cant afford it and its annoying thats all, as i say ill watch it on rtl if it works but at least if it dont i know ill be able to watch when i get up at 5am next sunday

  17. 60cm Satelite fitted. Satelite receiver installed and tuned in. And, wey hey, I got RTL in cystal clear quality! Will be tuning into Radio 5 live on the internet, headphones on, volume up and RTL on da telly. We're in business!

I do hate the Murdochs and, as a matter of principle, refuse to hand over one penny to them. I do hate being ripped off too. Seeing as the BBC are still showing half of the races, live and uninterupted, it would have worked out at around £50 per race to watch the other 10 on Sky!

Yes, I'm sure the Sky coverage will be very good. But RTL and the BBC are pretty darn good too. ;)

out of interest does your rtl say germany or austria? i suppose its the same channel like bbc wales and england, but mine comes up as austria on the banner, the progs are all kraut tho so i hope it works, i watched the sky channel on a p2p feed on friday so if not at least all's not lost if it isn't the same

im guessing its the main rtl one, you can check sat morning they are showing qualifying, my box may be different, the satelitte guy alligned it to astra 19.2 but the box didn't have that one listed it did however pick up german channels, rtl on mine is channel 823 i won't know until saturday if it works!
