I'm sure @Chrisradioman has put pictures up here somewhere of his engine guru Tudor Morgan building up cases with weld and recutting them.
I'm hopeless at finding old threads tho!

 

That was a type 4 case which is a different alloy and easier to weld im told

 

'Tis aluminium.

 

Must've had one hard life if a type 4 needed its thrust welding
