Dumb smartphone question

Something odd happened to my phone, the tech folk were baffled so told me to do a restore, I did and it hasn't fixed it, so phone is now unusable.

If I get either a new or secondhand unlocked phone, can I put my current sim in and it'll work all proper with my same number all that? No farting about, just work straight away...

 

As long as it's unlocked on the same network, yes.

You may need to check the SIM card size too.

Although this is an easy work around really if there is an issue.
