Don't fill the camper's fridge and larder before heading to Europe.

  1. BBC News - Brexit: UK driver has ham sandwiches confiscated at Dutch border

As daft as this may seem, thems is the new rules.

I used to stock the Bus up at Costco etc before heading to France, looks like that's no longer an option.

This was especially worthwhile if heading to eastern France or Belgium where supermarket shopping seems very expensive compared to here. I don't fancy loosing a week's shopping to the border controls :(

Surely you’d rather buy a croque monsuier in a cosmopolitan manner than a egg mayo sandwich from the Spar? @F_Pantos :)

I once stopped at the Millau Bridge visitor centre on my way down to Spain. I was in the camper so sat in the car park and made lunch. I’m sure I saw a few horrified looks by passers by as I was having a shippams spread on soft white rolls, washed down by a mug of tea :)

Are those Shippams spreads still sold in really thick white glass tubs ....always amazed me ...so much glass to very little spread .
    Are they plastic now .?

  4. I love a baked camembert and croque monsieur as much as the next person, but taking food with you and making the most of the Camper's fridge etc was all part and parcel of being in the Bus. I could rock up at the port, cook supper waiting for the ferry, and still have breakfast and dinner planned and bought for the following day. The supermarche could wait until I had chilled for a day, not any more :(

Phew! Looks like dry goods might be okay. Wouldn’t want to get as far as Italy and discover I’d not got any pasta ;)

  12. In an emergency you could take it out of the bags and just have loose tea, they would probably think it was drugs and wave you through.

The bacon sarnie your eating though, now that would have you pressed up against a wall by a very sturdily built PAF officer...............stop buying bacon in hope :D

I suppose there are worse ways for a girl to start her holidays than being pressed up against a wall by a very sturdily built PAF officer…

Why not apply for the £30 food voucher and get sent one of the boxes of food we see our glorious leaders have been sending impoverished families.

You’d save yourself a good 80% of time throwing it all in the bin.

  18. Best to go with an empty fridge and cool box, strange how it was acceptable before, it suddenly bacon ham and dairy products. becomes a pathogen.
Does this mean that all exports to Europe of dairy products and animal products are no longer allowed under EU rules

I doubt it, but it will have all sorts of paperwork to go with it, a beef spread sarnie wrapped in cling film probably won’t. Does seem a bit daft doesn’t it. Still, as someone said, if that’s the new rules we have to adapt I guess.
