You know credit card fuel purchases , hols , parts , repairs etc.

i know mine did during the resto but I'm determined its gonna be kept in check from now on , breakdowns excepted that is .

  2. last years welding did. this years" roof" would have if we hadn't changed it to " next years roof project" :)

  3. We have an agreement in our house. If ever it gets too expensive to repair Bobby, we put him away in the garage until we can afford it. So no, I won't go beyond our financial means, but at least I won't have to sell him if he becomes too expensive.

  4. Mine has been reasonably well behaived so far, it has some issues that i will throw my piggy bank at but it wont clean me out lol.

  5. i had a budget for kitty and we used that all up in buying her, getting her roadworthy and doing the interior - literally to the penny. I try and budget petrol costs monthly for drives out and at least one weekend a month away and bank what i dont use against the mot in november. it does help that after july i wont have to keep the mabelette supported at uni, she can start paying me petrol money LOL

Yes but I don't care. It's going to take me all over the place as well, and from just one weekend away I know it's going to be good value. :)

If I had to justify everything in life in terms of £value, I wouldn't have a van or any kids for starters.

  7. Yes - particularly if you factor in the 2k for the engine fire

Hopefully this won't always be the case though

He sure can but then l economise elsewhere when l have to. The fun and joy l get out of the bus exceeds what l put in in terms of money.

  11. I've sold cars to fund my van but could not keep them all anyway and if I can't afford to buy things to repair it then it don't get done untill I can .
Other than that I do ok just don't go mad with money all the time

  12. Not now I sold the camper van. Some off the money now c an go into the pickup

yes but a lot of that is my own fault, i've spunked money on silly things that i just didn't need but look nice. the credit card has more on it than i would like but as zed says i'm bloody using it this year and i'll worry when i'm dead.

  14. I don't find myself any worse off than before I bought my van. But I am more careful about what I spend my money on incase I need to spend on the van. I do think I must have been wasting a lot of cash in the past.

Dont tend to worry too much tbh, the enjoyment we get from using the bus out weighs it all...Gusbus on the other hand drives me mad!!

  16. Tbh I think there was something about it owning my soul on the owners form ahah lol an nah I do most of my own work so doesn't kill me in labour money =]

  17. another good thing is i do all my own work the only think ive not done is press the ball joints so ive also saved alot :D

  18. Yes, but it's all part of the fun isn't it? I know mine's only a resto but as the wife says, you get more money each month so what the hell!

Mine is currently taking me beyond my means with the engine build, but I'm fortunate most of the time that stretched one month can normally be made up the next... so long as I don't lose my job!!

Think I may have a quiet May and June while I (hopefully) drive the bus and break the engine in!! There's always wirebrushing the chassis rails if I want a month of cheap hard labour :0)

  20. Yes, but the juggling of finances is all part of the fun :)
