Does anyone have a late bay rear wheel bearing kit?

Cheers for the link. Bought some as “spares” to sit on the garage shelf ready for when they should be required.

  5. Are yours knackered or just buying for spares?

Do you need 1 side. Or both sides?

As I discovered, both the Heritage and GSF ones can be knackered more by mis installation than having problems with the bearing quality.

I am suspicious when people say 'so and so are no good because they stopped working after a few miles'. ...

I have run another 30k miles on one side with whatever came from GSF without problem, and 30k on the other side with a set from Heritage , after my initial foulup.

A Heritage set only managed about 40 miles because the race was put in slightly crooked - maybe 0.5 mm, and maybe I could have packed the bearing with a little more grease.
Basically the race and the rollers started melting. Definitely my fault, I just drove to GSF the next day and bought one of their sets after mail ordering a pair of sets from Heritage.

Definitely different brands, different issues fitting but I cant remember which they were.

Need to spot roller races with a rounded and a square edge and use the rounded edge as the bit that goes in first for instance .

The GSF roller bearing felt looser out of the box but tightened up when pushed into the hub carrier.

  7. MOT is due next week and last year the advisory was one rear wheel bearing. I was going to buy one just in case ready. If it only fails on that then I will get them to do it, hopefully they won't source a bearing made of cheese.

  8. They will get a cheese one unfortunately. Remember there is meant to be slight play in the rear wheel bearings due to their design, there is even be an official note they can look up on it on the MOT system.

  9. Mines had that advisory for the last 15 years , never been an issue and the tester always remembered when I handed him the previous mot !
    RIP MOTs...
Still getting it looked at though
