Does anyone have a late bay rear wheel bearing kit?

  1. That they are willing to open & post pics of both sides of both bearings? I am trying to source better quality ones from a bearing supplier & need the spec..... thought the product codes or details may be etched on the bearings. Thanks in advance.... as you can tell I can't sleep!

Thanks for *****ing waking me up with your *****ing question about *****ing proxy bearings, I don't know or care about your bearings, now go back to sleep

I've already done a job and I'm on my way to Gatwick airport old bean, good luck with your bearing hunt:thumbsup:

  4. I *think* these were sourced from CoolAir...

Outer bearing...there's nothing stamped on the other side so I didn't bother with a pic; it looks remarkable the same as this side!!

Inner Bearing - both sides. The box is branded KML and has a label saying "6207-C3 211-501-287", stuck over a label saying "6207-2RS-C3" - so not much more than is etched!

If you do find a good source please stick the details up on here. I think there has been a few people with bearing issues so a good supply would be useful.

  6. FAG for the win if you can get um .

A good quality bearing of that type is £80-120, if you never have to replace it then I think it’s worth it

  8. I replaced mine with INA heritage ones a few years back . Failed mot on being too wobbly ..I managed to source NOS Fag ones and perfect .

The C3 means baggy fit btw

There are a ton of fake bearings around ....

If I had the time I’d change to a double angular ball races like modern Marmite

That’s what the set up achieves with the 2 bearings

  10. I know but decent roller bearings are or were a minefield ...my pair of 914 / bmw rear bearings were £50 pair gen FAG and less messy

  11. Today I went to GSF in Liverpool & bought a crappy pair of vetech bearings & 2 oil seals.... I have taken them to a local branch if Eriks who specialise in bearings... The inner bearing is a generic 72mm od 35mm id 19mm thickness the outer is a different kettle of fish as it us a taper roller bearing 62 mm od 35 mm id 17mm thickness on the outer case but 18mm on the inner sleeve.... I have a guy on it now who will get back to me tomorrow.
Whilst I was at GSF I noticed a branch of Eriks on the same retail park so went over & asked if they sold bearings. A man bamed Carl in the workshop measured the ones I bought & produced this below which is the inner bearing. He GAVE it to me saying it's always good to help folk out.....

  12. Is the outer one really tapered? Sounds odd.

  13. No taper that I can see on the gsf one, unless I mis-heard him.... he was walking away at the time. It's not a ball bearing but a roller bearing... he may have said that. When he gets back to me with an alternative I will post full details.

  14. He is sourcing the oil seals too as I paid £8.40 for two of those today.

I thought the outer was one of those roller race plus bearing sleeve setups.. the pain is that sleeve width.

All I know is that when I fitted one Meyle and one INA in March 2016 and got it right, packing the cage and shell thoroughly with grease and lining up the roller bearing shell properly, they both have covered around 20k miles without issue since.

  16. There one one ball race, and one (flat) roller race as standard.

  17. I am becoming an expert in flat caged roller bearings with removable inner sleeve.... The type used for the outer rear bearing on our vans is ........... nu, however I am finding it near impossible to find the correct size combination of 35 id 62 od 17 width let alone one with a wider minimum 18mm inner sleeve .... so these feckers have really cornered the market.... someone must make & supply them to the usual suspects but I cannot yet find them & I have been searching all day!

  19. I know!!!! there are a zillion bearing places out there that I've searched .... None of them do (or advertise for sale to the public) a bearing for our purposes, the nearest I can find is 35 id 72 od 17 wide... this is 10mm too big on the outer diameter (od). I know they make them because all the usual suspects sell them including- gsf, jk, vwh, machine 7, probably others too. There are bearing manufacturers too such as Mahle, meyle, sfk, timken, vetech .... bloody hundreds, but all their product detail catalogues show the above 35/72/17 bearing & not the one we want.... I'm getting *******ed off now!
