Your gonna get loads of replies saying there rubbish, don't buy the cheap chinese cak, I've had a few now on different engines and I've never had a problem with them, buy one there ok in my opinion

i've got the same problem too, we did my timing at the weekend (i must admit i'm not much kop at timing) if we set it at 7.5 when we revved it up it went to 35, we had to set it at summat like 3 to get it to stay under 30 at high revs, zed explained this was lesser of 2 evils and my dissy was probably worn, it seems to run ok as is but i guess i'll need to research this too soon.

timed it at 30deg at 300rpm and you can see the tdc mark dancing back and forward i have striped it and its just all worn and the shaft has a lot of play so thinking its had it but have just had to buy a new starter and other bit s so a bit skint.

like woody says then you'll get good and bad, but for 54 quid dont expect 5 years use? it's worth a punt for that money in my opinion

  6. Ive got a power spark vac advance dizzy with the powerspark electronic module fitted on my bus and its given me no problems at all

My cheapo vac dizzy is also advancing about 4-5 degs too far. Wasn't long ago you could trust Vac distributors.

I think I might get me one of them there powerspark jobbies too. It's either that or a 123 and that's just silly money.

  13. You can still buy Mexican Bosch 034s, which are just fine.

Not wanting to hijack mattys thread but i'll be interested to see if paul is correct, the timing scale is marked at 7.5 with white paint and i didn't do it, as zed says i have got a vac advance dissy and auto box (no idea if the dissy is standard/original) if the timing should be 5 on an auto then it's not so far out as we thought but as zed also says why would the box affect the timing? i'll have to look in the book if i remember

i just looked at what's left of the sticker under the engine bay hatch, you can just make out that timing is 7.5 for auto and manual
