I read something similar, that suggested log burners are far more harmful than Diesel engines.. I'm not 100% convinced, but would like to see the figures.
WIKI says, 'Upon its release the engine was noted as one of the best diesel engines (for cars and light vans) in the world with its high power output and refinement it made all other diesel engines seem agricultural.[1] It was also particularly light, with a ready-to-run XUD9 weighing 157 kg (346 lb). The engine, because it is indirect injection, with a slower combustion burn time than direct injection, is suitable to run on SVO (pure vegetable oil).
Wiki doesn't mention that the cam tensioner was made of French cheese. Apart from that, a good engine
Sod diesel owners - how does it affect a 40 year old delivery van - will we be paying extra tax to take a bay in to london?! (although, tbh i don't really care - i hate london so avoid going, and if i WAS going i'd never take the vw.. )
What it means is that VAG worked out a really great way to spoof the emissions on the diesel tests - they didn't quite manage the same "wool over the eyes" trick with the petrols. It was in the news last year
Diesel engines have there place, but you can't honestly say that you have followed one of them, accelerating hard and belching out a black s##t and thought , that must be healthy, must lower my windows and take a good deep breath!
Only problem with this is same as cig tax diesel is taxed heavy (cheaper to produce than petrol but more at the pump) So where's the lost tax going to come from
When I got my new Audi, to my amazement of should I say confusion, user the petrol flap I discovered two caps , one for Cancerous Diesel and the other for Urine , sorry AdBlue ! What a load of Croc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The commercial Vehicle garage where i used to work back in the mid seventies , used to have a Diamond T ex yankee wartime break down truck 4+ 2 axle combo . The original petrol engine did 1/4 of a mile to the gallon ...hense the engine change to a Cummins 220
I'm about to renew my company car, company policy says we have to have a diesel , but there's big increases in company car tax due in 2019 so I'm in a bit of a quandary as to which way to go. I'm going to bring the subject up tomorrow...
Take the cash.... I've got a Euro 6 engine so according to articles not effected but we'll see. If I have to go petrol then I think I'm going to try and get a C63
Discussed it and as unsuspected the policy is well overdue for review, going to test drive a ct200h petrol hybrid over the next few days....very good on tax for me and ticks all the efficiency / environmental boxes as far as the company goes....
