Diesel car owners

  1. Yeah, the Audi is compliant, but the scaremongering is just daft.

It does feel like a witch hunt and it doesn't bode well for residual values. I can hear a big petrol V8 calling :)

I think it's the cats and adblue that they reckon are making the diesel particles so small they gather in our lungs easier. This is just HGV mechanic musings that I pick up on my travels btw.

Joking aside, I love a dirty diesel.. the trusty 1.9 tdi favoured for years by Vag has got to be the most hassle free engine ever... I'm going to stock pile them till the government change their minds in 5 years time and realise its the gases produced by man bun spray and vaping causing the air pollution in London

First they get us all using diesel by selling cheap diesel then when we are all in diesel they bang the price up . Now they are trying to scare us out of diesel and this will cost us all money . When the diesel cars have gone they will bang up the price of petrol . Then by then battery cars will have been so well developed and cheap to manufacture they will scare us out of petrol cars and then bang huge profits and taxes on electric cars.. The working man and motorists can never win

  6. Our A4 Avant has just had a new EGR cooler fitted by Audi.

    The cost..................... £680:90

It is not ours but a lease car, fortunately.
Oh, and while they are in it they fitted a new festoon bulb in the interior light for the bargain sum of £38.15.

  7. Remember, the Tories are the party of the "hard working people"

  9. We bought a leaf 6 months ago and I changed my diesel to a plug in hybrid 2 weeks ago. Electric makes sense if you aren't doing mega miles.

    Exactly this ^^^
I will admit though, whilst I don't drive in London apart from occasionally in the works truck, I do worry a little about a hike in the annual car tax for my trusty 2002 diesel V40. Scrappage schemes would never work for me as I'm as likely to afford a new car as I am to fly to the moon, and I like my old car! At 55mpg still, even at 15 years old, it's gonna take some beating.
Luckily the article was written by the Daily Mail, so I am taking it with a hefty pinch of salt.

  13. Still there, comes and goes. As it was only discovered relatively recently, noone knew what size it was supposed to be anyway...

Surely Slartibartfast still has the original plans?

Yes but we were all going to die cause it was getting huge - just thought they might have lost it or something :burp:

Great, so now we only have to worry about diesel fumes until we all buy electric- where was it our electric comes from

Only the Australians will die – so it doesn’t matter.

  19. I recently read somewhere that London air (particulates not co2) is often worse at the weekend. Thus not correlating with traffic levels.
It has been suggested it is actually due to the great increase in recent years of log burners and open fires. Often used with waste wood containing varnishes/adhesives/paint, green wood or even laminates and pdf type materials.
Legislation regarding Log Burners is changing to ensure only efficient models are sold and that they come with strict guidelines as to use.
