Managed to pick one up, just for giggles and popping to shops whilst camping. It's tidy but not immaculate. Any two stroke gurus near Luton Bedfordshire that could give a bit of assistance or advice? It's been ok ish and ran fine revving fully as long as you don't open the throttle quickly. If you do it actually bogs down and cuts out. I've been through the usual. Fuel tap Fuel line Carb mesh filter Carb float bowl Carb jet (only has one) Air filter (wire grid type) All above checked/cleaned as appropriate and all serviceable and standard. Looked for air leak via WD40 none found Checked plug, colour seems fine. It's the most basic of all engines but I'm stumped. Have no data for compression levels but does seem OK for what it is. As long as I don't open the throttle or as for power it'll whip me 15st to 60 kph on the flat! Cheers all Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
it is good to slowly take the choke off ,if you take it off too early it will die ,pop bang splat....
These symptoms are 10 mins into riding engine thoroughly warmed up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Possible reed valve problem? I have had a similar problem on a 2 stroke outboard and eventually tracked the problem to a coked up reed valve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There are no reeds there is only 1 jet. I think the coil pack might be suspect as it's actually giving a very minor zap when I stick my finger directly over the HT lead when I removed the cap. So I'm going to see if I can source a similar unit to try it out. Otherwise I have to order one, apart from the cost it's the ball ache of dealing with overseas companies. Obviously I'm assuming the magneto is ok. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Seriously you should see it in the flesh! Your sentiment is exactly why I bought it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like that The spark will get stronger the higher the rpm. There should be a screw on the carb most likely through a spring Give this a quarter turn in and give it a try again and see if things improve. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Your coil is fine .its your carb ,for sure . Take the carb off . Take apart and soak the bits in soapy very hot glycerin soap. Basically your dish liquid , for a few minutes and then blow off , by mouth ...i was a small engine mostly chainsaw mechanic for years and rejuvinated many zama stihl c61q .carbs that were given up on . Done hundreds like this . Carb cleaner wont work ,believe it or not. This is typical problems on high reving two strokes. .you have to take it off the bike ..
I was thinking this about the carb. It Bly has 1 jet. No mixture screw or any other adjustment at all. The only thing adjustable is the tick over. You say the coil will be fine but there's sometimes no spark at all and sometimes a very weak tingle. I'm talking removing the plug cap and actually sticking my finger on the end of the HT lead! I would expect quite a jolt?? Here's a link to the drawing of the carb. It's a Delorto SHA 14-12 main jet 53 https://www.diblasi.it/ecommerce/Ca...=-Prodotti@-.Scooters@.R7E@R7A3@R7A4@-R7E_Crb Here's a link to the handbook/owners manual http://www.diblasi.co.uk/manuali/R7_Manuale_En.pdf Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Don't know if it's the same on these but the carb needle can have a little circlip for limiting it's movement. There's normally a few grooves cut into the needle for different set ups.
