Devon roof beds...bunk or board

  1. Morning folks. Having the headlining replaced in the back of our Devon shortly and trying to decide whether to keep the bunks or go for a board type bed instead. Any thoughts? Will be to sleep our daughter when she out grows the cab bunk. If anyone has got the board bed would be really interested to see pics and know where you bought them. Thanks!

  3. There are a few threads on here with pics if you search. It's very easy, just some angle iron attached (mine are welded) to both sides of the roof opening and some plywood boards so that they can be stacked up for full standing headroom when not in use. Much better than the bunks and strong enough for an adult.

  4. if helps in the end fitted; "ladder rack hold down brackets" cos had them at work and they hang 125mm lower too. Painted them white and used 15mm ply with foam fitted. Each one about 500mm wide and hooked onto outer rim of our devon roof. Only fitted when needed and ideal for storage when away. Total cost was less than £30 !!

  5. I've always been a huge fan of Devon bunks.

Had them in our first van, and kids loved them.
I like the flexibility of using either side or both, and they're dead easy to put out and roll back.

We are a family of shorties though, me and the mrs are only 5'6" and the even the teenager isn't huge yet. I know some people find they aren't big enough.

Love them so much, I picked up a second hand pair to go in our current Holdsworth converted van.
