You've either got to go through the upstand and poptop frame at the top or just above the curtain rail, there's nothing to fix to in between

The bottom row of holes in the glue are where the outer bunk rails were screwed through

  3. above curtain rail means they wont be at correct angle surely. had original bunks fitted there.
have fitted kingspan insulation to that area now

Exactly what I've been thinking, would be good to get the extra inches height above but would need something other than right angle bracket!
Are you making your own with angle and boards? I know @1973daisey and others have done it

  7. My pop top is a holdsworth so it goes right to the back so may be different fitting bud

  8. This is only pic I can find of how I did mine !!
Notice the x2 wood batons either side these slot into the rear behind overhead locker when driving and held flat by the roof so don't go flying forward hope this helps

I went for the masochistic approach. I did not like the Devon strips of metal as the fabric on the old bunks went brittle under them, so I fitted rows of stainless steel lacing eyes along where the old bars went. Too many screws, and the self tappers I used tended to shear off, usually where the other side of the metal was a bit rusty.
I then attached the inboard part of the bunk fabric using eyelets and cord.
In retrospect fitting boards above on angle section would be better - and if you are worried about weight and strength you could always make a sandwich up with thinner ply and something like balsa in the middle.
For instance the deck of my boat is about 10mm thick and you walk around on a sandwich of thin fibreglass and end grain balsa.

  11. still haven't sorted this but away at weekend so need extra space, got some brackets, ali section but looking at 15mm board which will fit inside ali section which is strongest but lightest, ply-mdf or conti board ???
