The Scottish Ex pats down here also seem very vocal, but then trot off to work down here, I think most are doing it just because they think it annoys the English, great job I say and carry on thinking that but ruin your country instead
I don't know enough about it all to have a strong opinion, but I'm sure that Cameron, Clegg and Milliband dashing up there at the last minute is surely going to remind people why they should vote 'yes' ....
For those in areas of the UK that have had their major industries sold from under them as shareholders have pushed the work offshore to maintain their profits, for those in areas that had foreign investment denied so that a sitting government could gain a marginal seat somwhere else, for those in areas that had their industries smashed on the back of government foreign policy that saw subsidies to British owned companies to bring in goods that the subsidy ensured UK jobs can't compete with...it's a vote for them. There is no England...there is London and its suburbs (Kent, Essex etc) and greater London, the rest. If Yorkshire had a vote are you telling me they'd not opt out....London would sell the rest of England down the swanny in the blink of an eye...

To add, I wouldn't be surprised if London didn't try and set itself up as some form of principality in the same mould of Monaco. Tax dodge haven for people in industries that build nothing more significant than numbers on a screen. Whilst everyone is pondering the immigrant 'issue' and wondering why the powers that be do nothing...it has occurred to you that cheap migrant labour ensures London gets its bogs cleaned, it's offices decorated whilst ensuring those that do it can't afford to actually live near the greater good?
I don't know enough about it all as I'm far too busy working in your country and can't afford any form of media to stay in touch as I'm spending all my money on my bus! If Scotland go it alone, good luck to the country, I'm Scottish through and through and will never forget my heritage, however I think the point raised about it being a country and those who reside should be able to make the decision is correct. I live in Essex and wouldn't expect to move away and still be able to make a decision about what happens here so why should I worry about back home. Any government which inevitably starts out for the good of its people ultimately shafts them, looks at history! Crack on, what will be will be, but I ain't going anywhere fast unless they reduce scene tax up there!

If it goes to a yes vote up here then I'll be moving south of the border... 99% of my work comes in from across the border, and if they start slapping import/export on goods, then that hammers my margins...
I really, really hope the Scots decide to stay. However, a couple of thoughts: If Scotland is not a part of the EU, will there be immigration quotas and if not, why not? Will MPs from Scotland be immediately banned from voting at Westminster and if not, why not? The honourable thing for them to do would be to immediately resign their seats. Bet they don't. It is outrageous that the fate of the United Kingdom is being decided by less than 10% of its population. What's democratic about that?
They wouldn't do that of course, it'd be economic suicide. They say Scotland is fiscally neutral whereas as a whole, the UK is sliding into debt continuously. That's why the £ has plummeted. I hope they vote no and continue propping the rest of us up, but if I lived there I'd vote yes. If it went tits up I could always emigrate to England.
Who says that? Scotland receives a greater benefit from the UK per capita than the rest of the country. The argument is probably that oil will pay for everything, but nobody knows how that will pan out. The SNP also spout about the Norwegian model of a better welfare state and a sovereign wealth fund from the oil money, but forget to mention that the Norwegians put their oil money into the wealth fund and pay for the welfare spending with significantly higher taxes. I've not heard the SNP mention what all of their promises will cost and where the money will really come from. I just hope that we don't end up with a devolution situation where Scotland gets its socialist paradise but England foots the bill.
Are Scotland going to create their own navy to protect their oil fields and fish stocks? I've not heard anything mentioned about defence and who will pay for it other than the nuclear subs will go. I suppose they will still want the RAF basis in Scotland. Cake and eat it springs to mind.
The British Broadcasting Company would/should leave if it went yes and jus leave one foreign correspondent. So unemployment would go up.
and it's neighbouring countries are not full of casual racists (actually, I don't know this for sure!)
