Also if YES is that wall going to be rebuilt so they can't sneak south for some dry sunnier weather.

  2. Berwick-upon-Tweed will be the new Calais Sangatte as the illegals try and get into Scotland for their better benefits.

i agree it wasn't meant in a racist way purely to say some rules are silly, such as the way retired british ex pats living in spain get the heating allowance....

    Too right

I am going to qualify this by saying. My family are decendants of William- The first King of Scotland. they still own lands and I have heard the stories all my life. The simple fact is, the country has too small a populace to self govern fairly. In the past there has been famine, unrest and feudal conflicts that have lead to much misery, usually it was created by poor governance, badly or opposed local policies that lead to unrest etc. In truth the English ( us ) have been as bad over the years, using their influence and power to further unsettle ( divided and ruled ) but under the flag of the union the country has stabilised, people have largely lived a better existence and some have prospered,

The yes vote, will open up a can of worms, only the rich will benefit, the poor won't. They think they will because they are told they will.

The trouble with the average Scotsman is - He has a romantic vision of life and self rule. In reality, they are far better off under the flag of the union. for all its faults, and we better for them being part of it!

I can't work out why Cameron isn't in the vote yes camp, if the Scottish MPs are out the Labour will never get in power again!

Yes or No its caused divides to deepen, within Scotland and between English and Scottish, after listening to the vote Yes lot slagging us the English off Ive started to think we would be better apart, saying that they only speak for half of the population up there.

He is. But secretly, that is why they haven't fought the yes vote tooth and nail. I mean , after all, he is Scottish and rich?

  14. Not true. There has been analysis done of the general elections from the past 30 years, and not one of them would have been decided differently without the Scottish MPs. Most elections result in large majorities one way or the other, and the only ones with marginal decisions were decided in favour of the Tories, which wouldn't have been affected by a lack of Scottish MPs because there usually are very few Scottish Tory MPs.

Edit: just double-checked this. 2 occasions - October 1974, and 2010. In 1974 Labour got an overall majority with Scottish MPs, without, they would have still been the biggest party but wouldn't have had an overall majority so would have needed a coalition to govern.

In 2010, without Scotland, the Tories would have had an overall majority without needing their coalition partners, the LibDems. So there would have been no difference there then.

    • In 1964, the Conservatives would have been the largest party but would not have had a majority. Including Scotland, Labour won a House of Commons majority.
    • In February 1974, the Conservatives would have been the largest party but would not have had a majority. Including Scotland, Labour was the largest party but did not have a majority.
    • In October 1974, Labour would have been the largest party but would not have had a majority. Including Scotland, Labour won a House of Commons majority.
    • In 2010, the Conservatives would have won an outright majority. Including Scotland the Conservatives were the largest party but without an overall majority; they are in government in a coalition with the Liberal Democrats.

    There you go

Just watching the coverage on TV, they reckon that if the Yes lot loose but get 40% of the vote they will demand and get a new referendum in a few years, if this is the case it will go on and on costing us more until they decide yes so they could save us some money south of the border by going now!

  18. why should you be able to...We can't and we live next door ffs....;)

  20. Almost as good as the "Wot Oil should i use in my recently purchased bus" question ,i shall, being tartan clad, whisky drinking, chib carrying , English hating? bow to, and defer to the irony of so many peeps ,whose mother was at their time of birth ,(which said child had no influence over )on a piece of rock ,sticking out the water ,called England/Scotland ? (in this occassion) being born unto this earth , and getting their 3 score year and ten years on said planet find their identity via who knows wot? said piece of rock? the achievements of others ? the hatred of others ?the complete non entity of their perceived lack of achievement in their own life so therefore looking to focus on other less (apparently?) worthy individuals? having lived most of my adult life in Engerland, and Europe, i can assure the muppets that live within 20 miles of place of birth but have such esteemed opinions most likely based on tabloid/t.v.news soundbites that >>>most peeps put their breeks on one leg at a time, every person requires a>a home b>clothes>c>food and D> a regular/dependable source of external, from own body, supplied heat ,i.e. a fire of some source, no matter where you are ,wot you do ,thats your absolute basics, everything else is cream on your cake,A.Salmond ? pleeeeease, mdon"t make me laff, simply wants his paragraph in history, give the (looser?) jocks their independance, why not ? if they bomb it ,laff, and say "told you so,if they do ok, fine,by them getting their independance, Engerland comes one step closer to their own , wot, with monotinous regularity i hear spouted said request from call-ins to radio stations frequently ,ever tried standing up and demanding it ? oh wait, its ok ,the welsh ,irish, jocks ,are taking care of it for us ! if only because everyone olse will have bogged off to do their own thing, and maybe just maybe ,next time i am down south and its the official Engerland day?(St. George?) someone will fly the flag eh? we may not acieve much, tis true ,but at least folks ,we actually believe (perhaps misguided)WE- ARE-THE-PEOPLE!>and god loves a fool (apparently?) now, back to more serioius matters eh?< i am currently runniung Morris oil in my bus .......................
