DAB signal quality poor since retune - anyone else?

Atmosphere must deffo make a difference as zed said, this morning it's poured down and been overcast all the way to work and signal has been 100%..... Compared to a clear sky crisp cold morning when it's been terrible.

 

Time to contemplate moving along there ....

I haven't even stuck my dab antenna to the windscreen yet, are they any good in camper vans or is the screen too vertical? Would it work better elsewhere?

 

Just found out this morning that my mum's roberts is doing the same as mine, on Radio 4... cutting out and going dead until you turn on and off again...

 

the link i posted said bbc stations weren't affected it's the "niche" stations that don't make a great deal on listener vs adverts....

 

my brother got a screen one said it was pants so i got a little magnet one

 

It came with the head unit.

 

and that makes it good? or does the job...... i guess external is better all the time, the fm aerial on the t5 is built in the mirror, signal is pants.

Well, that makes it even more confusing...we both listen to BBC stations.

...maybe our identical radios have just randomly chosen the same week to stop working properly.

 

maybe there's some disruption whilst they mess about? or maybe you need to do a total reset thingy? i'm no expert, i just read the linky.

 

yep, gotcha, i got a magmount 'cos my dab is an "add on" unit, looks like a sat nav and transmits on an empty fm band to the original radio, i thought by getting a mag mount i could remove it if the screen broke or i changed cars.

 

Reading the instructions I'm supposed to scratch me paint off for "earth sheet" part of the antenna. On modern vehicles that would be hidden behind a plastic trim. No thanks.

 

I had similar issues in the van with how to earth the stick on dab aerials.
I ended up getting a weird (and expensive) converter that uses the normal aerial to get dab reception, it is meant to be better than the stick on aerials - it isn't!
The free stick on dab aerial in my car gives better reception, but the earth is hidden behind trim.
Someone else on here found a way to ground the stick on dab aerials in the van - i'll try and find the thread

 

i found the window ones are pants
both the car and the van now have a combined fm/dab external aerial, I very rarely have a issue of loss of signal certain less than i use to get with FM

@matty my free window mounted dab aerial in the car, is as good as my expensive dabonwheels convertor type aerial thing, which i only bought after being told there wasn't a suitable earth point in the van!
As zedders already has a free dab aerial he could give it a go first, before drilling holes or spending cash
