Converting our Devon bunks into a bed

  1. If it is for small people the plank system shown is probably better / safer.plus the hammocks are not that easy to get in and out of ,and not suitable for larger peeps . Worth considering sleeping some in a drive away awning.you can put inflatable beds or fold up ones .

  2. This really does look impressive. My children look a similar age to yours in the picture. How did you all get on using this? Really great job done for £240. Great finished product. Any chance you still have your mark II drawings? I guess this is something you can take out relatively easily so we could reinstate the hammock and have this as an option. Need whichever one the children are going to sleep best in!

  3. Thanks. Littlies are 3 and 7 so too young to sleep in our awning at the moment. This really does look like a great option and think the boys would sleep better with the bigger space - the hammocks look a bit snug...

For the really lazy among us (no idea who ) I have heard that the board conversion will take a 13st snoring man who CBA to rearrange the “downstairs”.

that is what I heard anyway ;)

  7. Hi everyone, not sure if @tyke2 still uses this forum but I bought your Bay 5 years ago from a guy you sold it to...(I only know this as I've seen your pictures in this thread)... I'm looking to replace the roof bed boards and wondering if you had it made anywhere specific?

  8. Nice conversion. Does anyone know what is the actual maximum weight the Devon hammocks can hold. May have to think about a conversion when kids get bigger

  9. Hi @paulnulty .
I don't hang out here anymore. I'm glad to hear my Bay is still around. The couple who bought it were very nice, but they must have sold it straight on? She was in pretty much 100% tip top condition when I sold her.
The bunks were Taylor made by Carlton conversions in Carlton , Barnsley. We designed the setup together and then the guy was advertising them on Ebay.
