Contract tracing app

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by rustbucket, Sep 26, 2020.

  1. You've totally missed the point.

The scenario was foreseeable, why let them pay up and travel, to then share accommodation with people from all over the country, including areas already deemed to be high risk? Why not defer the start of terms until the local area lockdowns had time to work?

Just as tangible as your argument

  7. So you think 18 year olds, having committed financially to a place at university months ago, and further financial commitment to halls or private accommodation should just walk away and be out of pocket, but that the government and the respective universities should just look on with no sense of accountability?

    Really?

  8. No, what is scandalous is that these so-called educated youngsters choose to not socially distance and then are outraged at being forced to lockdown (and they have to be forced because they can't be relied upon to be responsible).... Meanwhile, my nan has been "locked down" since March in her care home, with no visitors allowed. My heart bleeds for them

I would , they aren’t committed until the day they turn up, can even drop out 2-3 weeks into term with no financial loss, both sides had the choice. The students also have grown up parents etc to offer advice , I doubt the universities or the government has sent out a squad to drag all these people into their halls

It wasnt Spanish Flu, it was American flu. Spread by returning slightly ill injured servicemen, the country with the most cases was the USA. The Spanish admitted they had it, the UK , France and USA pretended it didnt exist.

  14. That’s been my observation being on the front line so to speak ( in a lord melchit sort of way!)

  15. On the assumption that their respective course place and room in halls is reallocated and no chance of walking away from private landlord rentals.

A lot of hypocrisy going on here, this age group is being offered up as both irresponsible and immature spreaders but also responsible and mature enough to make a decision to withdraw from a university place with no guarantee of getting back in future.

And the government and universities just stand by and let it happen.
