  1. I will. I try to be part of the solution, rather than part of the problem...

It’s not costing me anything to download it. I don’t imagine it will spy on any of my personal data anymore than I’m already spied on. It’s only just been launched so it will have teething problems. It might turn out to be useless or useful, who knows?

  3. Amazing how many people distrust the government in normal times. Suddenly everyone (cough) trusts the government in a pandemic situation.
So who's going to be our first Chinese Prime Minister?

  4. Good for you, I will be more than happy to be part of a proven solution - hopefully a solution that proves sending thousands of students across the country and mixing with thousands of other people from across the country/world was a shocking idea.........

I don’t think downloading an app is a sign that I trust this government.

What exactly is it that they are going to do to be trusty worthy or not with this apparently secret information I have that they don’t ?

  10. That's not the point. I understand that they may be able to cut down on terrorism and track cells this way but how much civil liberties and privacy do people want to or are willing to give up?

  11. I personally think being locked down in our houses was worse than having a tracing app. I don’t mind Borris knowing I’ve been to Burger King.

Well it sort of is the point , what do “they”
Think they are actually giving up?

  13. It's fine if you don't mind the government or any other organisation knowing where you are but the point is we are seeing our personal freedoms eroded more and more over time and in the end we'll end up like china. Do you want that? do you want to be told where to go and when and what to do and not to do? If you don't comply do you mind the police or army coming to your house and taking you away? Worse case scenario, I know but it happens in other countries, we don't want it here.

  15. Agreed. While obviously this is an exceptional situation, most people surely must recognise that our civil liberties have been massively compromised this year. Its scary to see that police are being posted to student halls of residence to prevent then from leaving now.

  16. Its is scandalous that thousands of students, having paid their tuition fees and rent for a room in halls, are now effectively under house arrest.

  17. I've just watched that on the news. All students locked in their rooms. The two interviewed couldn't go to the shop or the cloth washing room. This totally what i'm on about, it's nothing less than imprisonment.
