  1. Very excited about this world cup, anyone else sitting there glued to the TV this morning?

  2. Sorry. The only cup I give a toss about right now has tea in it.

At least I can watch it (or listen) at a sensible time.
    Go Scotland

    Failing that Go Australia

    Failing that Go New Zealand

    Failing that Go Ireland

    Failing that Go Wales

    Failing that Go France

etc etc etc until I admit I'll support anyone except England in this. :p

    Absolute shower of s h I t e this morning.
Hopefully they'll show some passion in the next game.
If they don't they're in for a rude awakening.

    Couple of observations:

I can't imagine any other nation on earth showing a football advert (Vauxhall) in the middle of a rugby game - not saying anythin negative about football, or that people can't enjoy both - but ffs don't we get enough of that sport?!

Other than that - if England insist on playing other teams to their strengths rather than hit them where they are weak they will struggle - also, the Argies were third in the last cup and have stiffed the French a couple of times since - they are no mugs. Englands young guys need to get more streetwise, but thats a solid win.

A solid win? Were you watching the same game?
    It was appalling.

I disagree - Argentina are no mugs - they came third last time and can give any team in the world a hard game.

England, since winning the last world cup and somehow getting a pony team into the last final seem to think that if they are run close its solely becuase they didnt execute or didnt plan well etc.

No recognition that the other team can stop them playing game plans, execute etc. That the reason they might have been bad, is because the opposition was actually quite good.

Did England look like loosing to a team that came third in the world cup last time? No.

Did England try and outmuscle one of the worlds great packs? Yes.

Did they try a different approach, learn? Eventually Yes, but they took their time.

Do England have a different gameplan - hopefully yes.

I'm not even English nor an England fan as such - just makes me laugh that a shaky start, that they turned around, is treated as a disaster simply because they didnt score 5 tries or more against a team ranked just four places below them in the world rankings.

You got humped by 36 points by the Boks last time - thats a disaster!

I fully accept that Argentina are no mugs.
Unfortunately England for the majority of the game showed no passion.
For me, that makes it appalling.

Being from yorkshire where Rugby league is the favoured game I find this world cup a bit of a sham, its only major participants are New Zealand where its is the national sport, We here are a bit blinded by the press who like to portray union as a massive world game because it suits there middle class ethos, Well its not, its a minority sport in every other country even Australia where we think they all play and watch rugby, well your right they do but its Rugby League they watch not union, their union players are either failed league players or posh schoolboy types, Tonga, usa, namibia, romania and the list goes on even in south africa its only a minority sport, hard lads still but not really supreme sportsmen
