Putting the refurbed torsion arms back in without scratchin 'em is tricky, especially on my own so have to get the old man to help..

Arms in with new seals, and the powdercoated original backing plates go on with new bolts

New bearings, seals, discs, calipers and copper brake pipes...

And its starting to look like it could be back on the floor soon...

Tin ware is back from AWP and the old CJ motor has been sent away for rebuild into an injection crankcase. I've decided to fit fuel injection as it was originally fitted and i'm looking for a challenge! Need a few odds and sods to get a complete set-up..

Steering box off and cleaned up..and then tried to get the drop arm off...jeysus!!! that is on tight! eventually it surrenders and I get to replace the seals following diddyman's great 'how-to' on here

there is a mark on the arm to help on re-assembly..

ready to go back on, just need to paint behind where it and the pedals reside

Okey dokey, so our newly rebuilt engine has arrived. The service we received from The VW Engine company was excellent. Adrian was really helpful over the phone and very patient with all my questions! Our old engine was collected promptly and delivered back to us 10 days later. Now all I have to do is reassemble all the ancillaries, source a FI system, fit to the van and get it going!

Changed my mind and decided to go for carbs over the fuel injection because Ive got a pair of rebuilt solex's stashed and the manifolds had already been refinished. Also struggling to get all the FI parts I need.

BUT! I'm so fickle! so change my mind again!

off with the carbs and on with FI! Steve Lhu kindly helps me out with the front tin and I discover a box of FI parts I had squirrelled away yonks ago.

so off to AWP for some attention and the search for FI parts continues...

It doesn't look a lot but there was 2 solid days in the above. Getting the handbrake sorted, the dash and steering column back together was real tricky mainly because of access...I got myself into so right shapes!

nice bit of bling from Butty..

The starter motor appears to be quite recent and a bosch one so I just replaced the cracked solenoid with one from fleabay for a tenner.

Made up some new battery leads from 35mm cable which is a bit overkill but I had it laying around. A bit of heat shrink makes them a bit prettier..

Gulp! Now is the time to see if it all works?!

Well after a bit of coaxing we have lights, wipers and the starter spins. There seems to be a problem with the hazard lights so will have to investigate further but initial thoughts are the relay?
