There’s something fishy going on here. I can’t turn the radio off, sorted that easily enough with side cutters . The fuel guage was showing full and a bit, so I technically sorted that with a bang on the dash on my way to bath, then the alternator light came on and I thought for a second “Oh that’s good “ because that hasn’t worked since I took the dash out last time. Then I realised that it might not be good :(but after a nice rant down the ring road the alternator light went out but the fuel guage was still extremely optimistic and that went on all the way to bath. Plus I’d balanced another nine by six oval speaker on top of the steering column brace and fixed it nicely with el zippos ( that’s now rattling) So,,, all in all in Bath, the burglers were very nice, I had a blue cheese quarter pounder in a sesame seed bun and a garlic mayo cheeseburger in the same bun, I love Schwartz burgers oh and I got some fries too, best bit really was the speaker-had stopped rattling (pulled up Maybs) and we looked ‘ cool as ‘ parked up on double yellows and eating burglers playin toons and pondering the mysterys of the universe especially electrickery and it’s many many vagaries

    Ozziedog,,,,,,,vagaries,, like pi55ing me off :)

The switch has arrived but has been 'slightly' chewed by the dogs who got to the post first that day! Don't know if it still works as the fan's not here yet.

  3. Not wating to chop my hole about I went for an amp in the glovebox with one of those headphone cable things to plug into an ipod/ phone and used the radio app on the phone.

That worked well for a while, then the amp died. I replaced it with something like this...

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetoot...745534?hash=item41ff28e97e:g:OXQAAOSwkYpcp9ia

    That was pretty rubbish.

So now I'm thinking go back to the amp idea.

The only snag is I don't know anything about this kind of stuff. So I don't know what to buy.

It'll only be running a pair of small speakers in the kick panels, and I don't have much of an ear for sound quality so I guess it doesn't need to be super fancy.

Obviously I don't want to spend too much either.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks :)

I think I want just a regular amp of a brand i've heard of is where i want to go now. seems looking on ebay etc is a bit of a minefield when I don' know what specs I should be looking for.

Maybe I'll check out the car boot fair

Sarah, for how cheap these things are, why don’t you run one of these in the glove box and just connect it to the speakers that you have, or connect two more up in the rear possibly at some later date. You can st play your iPod etc and even Bluetooth your phone.

    Ozziedog,,,',,,less than fifteen quid :)

  8. I made a stereo out of ones of these Amps and some speakers and put them in an ammo tin, sounds good to me.

The problem with using a proper car amp is the input from an iPod will be too small to drive the amp initially so you will get poor sound/volume from it

Well we went on a rugby tour with the kids at the weekend and they all chose to camp, most were totaly ill prepared and as a result they cookooed into me bay and Punch and Judy awning, I sparked up the cheepo ICE plugged the disco ball into the usb in the front of the unit and it went well all weekend, good enough sound to keep em all happy, they took it in turns linking phones to the bluetooth, to be fair I have had more than £12.99 s worth out of it already!!

Well I fitted mine today. It slotted into my previously molested hole with the aid of the carrier cradle it comes with. It plugged straight into the existing plug and the aerial is just a standard one, no DAB, but it picks up FM a treat. The sound is good through the four existing speakers, the Bluetooth works well for music from the phone and is okay for a handsfree connection, but needs a external mic somehow, I never saw a connection point for an external mic though, will look again in the morning. The problem I have is we wanted to transmit to a bluetooth speaker, but it only receives BT it doesn't transmit it. Other than that it's spot on for the money.

    cheers pie

I have used mine without a mic, you just have to shout a bit, can you just bypass the head unit and link straight to thee speaker, I was not aware that head units could link to BT speakers?
