The younger crowd don't know how to spanner any more and want low maintenance vehicles because that's what they're used to with their daily drivers.

 

I don't think that's it, more likely they look at bays as being for old duffers.

 

I'm happy with that, being an old duffer isn't a bad thing in my book.

 

Unless of course they are cuwell! Gnarly, dropped in the weeds yadda yadda!

 

Good on em I say. Not my bag, but have done my fair share of Vanfests and the like. The thought of sitting in one field for a weekend just doesnt do it for me anymore.
They're out doing it and hopefully enjoying it.

That one is a he who doesn't understand what a good looking vehicle a bay window camper is when it's painted orange.

..yeah..think the old good days are gone..for good..time changed..as changed people..we all did in fact..the old good vw scene gone too..I don't know about scene in this country really but in mine things started to change after 2000..magic date..every time I meet with my frends (made a lot through the scene!) we tell the stories from the past..about the shows we attended..people we met..cars..really people made the scene mostly with no money but with love and passion and always with advice help etc..how different is todays scene most of you know..I don't do shows or meet ups anymore..I just stick to my memories..what makes it even worse is the fact that even some people who own old aircoled rides mainly splittys or pre 67s are a bunch of snobbery!..I can see these days it has been parted!..back in the days did'nt matter if owned rusty late bug nice oval splity or type4..we were all family helped each other!..bet peeps in those modern cars don't know what means to pull over seeing broken down fellow vdub just to ask what happened..or send some parts to someone needing one for note!..guess how I know..but heyho this is todays moneys everything world..

 

Thats the difference you see . Ive got girls. They have lived in the van for all their lives and its never not been a cool thing. Lads dont see things quite the same and tend to be more disparaging of their olds!

I hardly see any friends with a classic vehicle now. I am the only one apart from a girl with a mk1 fiesta.

Seems to me people want a newer type vehicle that is somewhat powerful. All about modern style and BHP what with these modern .
