The bay scene was like this, I can. Back in the late 90's to mid 00's We used to go to big shows every year in massive air cooled convoys. Places like Vanfest we and almost everybody never missed looking forward to it for ages. Where's it gone. This was brean sands today, I'm not really into the so called scene that much any more but the T4/5 Folks do this somewhere almost every week. I don't wanna do this but maybe they're just a younger more enthusiastic crowd.
i stopped going to shows when the T4/5s started taking over Shows went from being a chilled out, relaxing and everyone getting along to all about big wheels, big stereos playing crap music over everyone else crap music and lots of drinking during the day and shouting at your kids. God that makes me sound grumpy
I was NEVER into the scene thing , i just couldn`t get it . I`ve had a couple of vans over the last 30 years and both have been used for exploring , adventures , escaping etc but usually with a couple of mates - only ever been to 4 shows and two of them in the last 2 years , techenders don`t count .... Never felt the need to `convoy` either - am i missing something ??
No you ain't missing anything, i don't want to do any of that either but they certainly know how get a crowd. We went on our local vw club run to Hunstanton last year, 300 mainly T4 and 5's turned up it was mental
Woodster, your pic looks like a load of people with similar vans have gone to the same place at the same time then wandered about in the drizzle with their hands in their pockets wondering why. I think all those people have an in build urge to be part of some sort of community though and that call is strong enough to brave the drizzle, any excuse will do, same vans? Good enough. What they lack is leadership, and that's your forte. What can you do with a thousand strong community of mobile party animals? A Rave?
Let me finish, but can afford much superior vehicles to our rusty old heaps that we have to drive they are over 25k and most are 35-40
