Camping at the castle 2015

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by johnw1666, Mar 6, 2015.

  1. Had a great weekend, despite not seeing any other Late Bayers!

    Numerous problems.....

Broke down on way there (usual hot start problem).
Took 6 hours to get there instead of 3.
When I got there, woman didn't know where I should be going. She said some are camping on the campsite, and driving to the trade area in the morning, whereas some are camping in the trade area. Even when I told her the club name she was none the wiser.
Took a walk down towards the "show area" on Friday evening, no Late Bayers to be seen.
Saw @pkrboo as I walked back, but never saw anyone ever again!

I guess my problem was I don't really know anyone other than @Birdy , @zed or @pkrboo , none of whom I saw all weekend! Haha.
I forgot to take down @johnw1666 mobile number from this thread, and the phone signal in the camping area was worse than none!
Still, lesson learnt, and maybe next year the organisers can let us know the area we're supposed to camp/display in a bit more specifically!

Thanks again for sorting the tickets, despite me feeling a bit bad at not displaying when someone else could have! :(

  2. Ooops! yeah sorry John, my criticism was aimed at the show organisers rather than yourself, many thanks for your work in getting us there:hattip:

  3. Wish I'd got one done now!
Do you remember if he has a company that you can order from?

  4. Dont worry Andy it's a beige bus thing, I never made the line up after starter issues last year, next year will be yours!

11 hours to get home! I did have a long break on the way though.

  9. Jeez man! I hope you had a 6 hour break!

  10. Did it all fit in?

  11. I managed to drive home without spinning out in a dramatic way.

Just been out for a curry, unpacking can wait for another day, I'm pooped

    Yep.
I really enjoyed driving about with my 1600 this weeked. This always happens! I know deep down it's an underpowered lawn mower engine, but the whole journey when you just know there is no point putting your foor down is really relaxing. I did about 250 miles today, I know it's not that far, but I feel quite relaxed and not knackered at all! I filled up after 210 miles and could only get 35 litres in. 27mpg. Seems suspiciously high to me, maybe I didn't fill it properly.

  13. Had a great time, great weather, great show thanks to @johnw1666 for sorting the tickets
Nice to meet a few new faces and some old ones. Thanks to @pkrboo for mending my slider and thanks to @Barneyrubble for help with my clutch and keeping us supplied with snacks

It's a great little show in a nice location. Let's hope camper and bus get their act together next year and organise proper club camping, it's a bit weird to issue wristbands with club on them, and then tell you there is no club camping and go in general.

  14. Didn't see your run today, does that ^^ mean you lost your crown?

  15. Other people took the trophy's, but I don't really care, I had too much fun to get upset.

  16. Hey who cares about a trophy! good effort with the log it looked ace

That's two events I missed you at lately (beaulieu and eastnor). Get a big sign on your van (or stop avoiding me ;-) )

  20. Same for us. Finally got my engine back together and wired up late Saturday (see other post on that yesterday) and by the time we arrived I had zero battery signal. Couldnt find a TLB soul until this morning when we saw @Beaver packing up.

None of the organisers knew where any of the clubs were parking. Chaos.

Good weather though and we were just pleased the van fired up. Engine bay looking much better now at least!
