I hate them too but sometimes you`ve gotta compromise .... On the plus side the V5 says it`s a motorhome .
An MOT isn`t worth anything these days , unless you take it yourself to a garage you trust for a test / check . They can be bought for £110 around here - the bosses van hasn`t seen the inside of a test station for at least 5 years ..
A friend of mine wanted a van with a lifting tailgate. He looked at loads of T4s and T5s .. and now has one and a half T25's and a promise from me to introduce him to @davidoft...
Yup . Many are just ex-builder vans . (commercial) It`s easy enough to get a V5 changed to motor caravan / motorhome but , as you`d expect , there`s hoops to jump through and a DVLA (?) check is carried out regarding onboard facilities - windows , water storage , wardrobe , bed etc etc ... The test obviously to be paid for . Different Mot if it`s over a certain weight as well if i remember ? In most areas it means cheaper insurance cover , in That London it can equate to being allowed in the LEZ as a motorhome but not as commercial for the same van . Registered as a motorhome it must have the onboard facilities if stopped by the police . There`s lots of little rules , mimimum window sizes etc ... Worth knowing if you`re looking at other vans ...
This is one I converted a few years ago to sell. It’s a LWB Sportline. The Lady I sold it too got in touch to tell me she had spend somewhere in the region of 55k and called it the Beast and apparently it’s been on Car SOS and won awards Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Having it registered as a motor caravan also means the same speed limits as car but if it’s a van it’s lower limits
