There`s plenty out there but stop moving your own goalposts , now its gotta be a builders van as well - shouldn`t be a problem but it`s gotta be RHD `coz the missus can`t drive a LHD . Fine , then later it can be LHD but you`d do all the driving ..... VW or non VW it`ll be a comprimise but you`ll need to prioritise what`s important and how you actually see the van being used . Not trying to lecture but it`s all getting a bit messy ....
Truth be told, I bet lots of us on here have looked at other makes of campervan. I certainly know I have, seriously thought about swapping one of ours last summer.
You'd still have one vw left though! I can't imagine ever getting rid of mine, but wouldn't be opposed to adding another van to suit diffrent uses. Eg if I was doing 6 months full time living in a van in Europe
Indeed, the westy would be the keeper as it always started, straight off the bat, even after sitting for about a year, burst into life and sat idling nicely. Gusbus, last summer had a spate of not starting at the least expected of moments, despite what we did to rid the fault. Fingers crossed its sorted now, it started fine yesterday after three months not moving. As James said, the moment of madness has passed by
I think this comes a bit nearer to it ..... If I can find a camper/daily to suit without selling "the green one" we'll have covered all bases, so it doesn't have to be a T2, or any other T .... and "oi! @Lasty , YOU'RE the one that opened the T4 can!
@Lasty 's point is that you can only choose a van when you know what you want to use it for. You don't really seem to know what you are buying a van for. If I was doing 6 months living in a van, I'd know what the van would need to meet my requirements.
I know exactly what I'm buying a van for ... maybe just expecting it to cover too many bases? We would ideally only have two vehicles in total. That's obviously where compromise has to come in. I now have a better idea of what won't do, because I now have a better idea of which compromises would be ok, and which ones wouldn't
Side note.... We have 2 T2s, love them. My dad bought a T4 and lived in it in Tenerife for a few months. He's since bought a Boxer and said just yesterday "I don't know why I lived in such a small van, I wouldn't go back"
You could get this one @Dub and Dubber and be in @lost-en-france Dehler gang https://www.justkampers.com/marketplace/advert/view/id/10112/
We`re thinking along the same lines , forrin` travel would be soooo much easier in a modern van Look at @Lord Congi , it`s all about the camping . Not a second thought about setting off to Spain/Portugal in the newbie - never looked back And before anyone pipes up , i`d do the same in mine but covering big kilometers is far more pleasurable in something a bit newer and faster .** ** unless you`ve got a couple of years
The thought of getting a newer can like you suggest isn't lost on me either, for the very same reason.
