I currently have a flat roofed extension on the side of the house ,I want to strip the felt and boarding to insulate the cieling as there is not much in the way of insulation. I'm saying up the options for recovering the roof. IvI' been considering "cure it " GRP and a rubber type ,also when I get it priced a pitched / tiled roof like this
Is the GRP anygood the reckon 20 years lifespan ,but there didn't seem to be much in the way of actual fibreglass ,and will it crack like a camper roof ,.is the rubber stuff any good . I can see the pitch option being exslenexp
Cheapest is a 'warm' flat roof, then you won't need to try and vent it. you can cover it with single membrane or grp, though neither is cheap. You can do the grp yourself ,it is just time consuming. That pitched roof will cost a fair bit more, the complexity will mean labour costs will be high compared to the materials used. You takes your choice...
GRP looks good (as far as flat roofs go) ages well but it"ll allways be a flat roof which in my opinion are gash! Why recover if your gonna pitch and slate/tile it?
I used to install this stuff http://www.protan.co.uk/ Single ply membrane -heat welded seams and all that shizz. I don't anymore as I don't work for the contractor wot done it anymore. Hope that is helpful.
Why ? Nothing wrong with GRP stick 2 latin roofs in the centre of each room. You will most likely have to board the roof looking at the pitch. better and cheaper if you can come closer to 30 degree pitch.
We've got a building with GRP valleys behind the parapet wall. They split and water came in- old roofing man said - don't like these fibreglass things and he fixed them nice with something different.
Get Geordie who used to come on here to do it or@crossey he’s very cheap and does very good discounts ask @Kkkaty
