  1. How may actually are there on here that are on the road in the UK. No criticism intended but all new buses seem to be imports. Just wondered. Ive been looking enviously at the lack of rust on other peeps buses.

San Fransisco made in Germany. Steering wheel on the "wrong" side.
A few years ago Lhd was "frowned" upon, like you say there's more than rhd most places i see.

Mine is a US import. I went for that as I was wanting a tin top with a sliding sun roof and they were all LHD. The lack of rust was an added bonus :)

  4. Mine was originally built and sold in Germany until coming over about 14 years ago. So it's also LHD and the speedo still reads in km/h.

  5. Good idea

Let's face it, a lot of uk buses have rotted out. My Westy was a UK bus, but needed a lot of repair.

I wanted a bus for a sensible price, didn't mind what needed doing to it as long as it wasn't weeks and weeks of welding rusty bits, so I've got a rust free Californian import, loads of stuff to do but all "nice" jobs.

exactly what i did, having my fair share of crappy rotten landrovers i saw a few rhd vans in my price range and thought i would be mad not to go american, i think most people who have met me and seen my van will agree i got a bargain and i'm quite happy with the steering being wrong.

Ive said it many a time that Woody's bus is one of the best ones on TLB - not discrediting any others as there are many good buses as well. She's very well looked after & imo deserves credit!

  13. Our '70 is UK, owned 14years, restored but needs paintwork and attention again now, the '64 & '78 from California are completely og & with no replacement panels - has to be down to the fact that when these vans were new in the UK they were probably kept outside and driven in all weathers being new vans and in daily use......

Yes, I looked a few UK ones for the same price that all appeared nicer than mine, but as soon as you looked below the surface it was scary.

I bought an Australian van as well, not because I'm clever and know about vans, just dumb luck.

  20. By the way - Im talking ON THE ROAD! not in bits somewhere or waiting to be restored, or quietly rotting. If it doesnt have an MOT then dont bnother voting.!
