1776 seems like the way forward for a T1 engine. My standard 1600 with twin carbs will happily sit at 70 though, depends how much you want to spend I guess.
Bus engines, now there's a topic it's one of those different strokes for different folks (pun intended ) I build engines too, so I like to think I have a little bit of know how one of the best things you can do to a bus engine is increase torque... you can do this a number of ways, but the best way is with a stroker crank next is head mods and the correct cam for its usage do that and you'll have a nice little powerhouse in the back of your van
Ahh so proper machining work and not a home enthusiasts job I take it air cooled engine are very restictive in terms of flow when standard?
Id imagine thats why twin carbs on shorter manifolds with a merged header and free flowing silencer makes such a difference then Because there so restrictive to begin with I wonder how much extra could be gained if you used a throttle body for each cylinder instead of twin carbs This thread has got me full of ideas now
You see i grew up on efi fuel systems as i messed with cars Im only just getting my head round carbs Megasquirt engine managment can be bought in kit form and assembled at home and there are many versions of the maps for certain applications already in the public domain If im honest though i like my stock 1600tp as when it plays up its easy to find the fault and work on I do like the idea of having a special engine though and keep the 1600 in case of emergencys
Para Give us it n i will sort it . If its still not ready for the road i dont mind fettling with it. ;D ;D
Mines just a 1600 tp dude Its done less than 500 miles since rebuild and i dont have money for go faster bits lol
