  2. Got to share the radio that sits in my van. It was the first portable one to able to receive VHS. Still sounds great.

  3. Looks almost Art Deco

  4. It's a Bush VT103, from the early 60s.

I'll stop being a radio geek now :)...

  5. You are right about 2 way family favourites including other places besides Germany - but I think I was Cyprus they broadcast from as well.

  6. Must have been RAF Akrotiri I guess. Around the era of Archbishop Makarios and Colonel Grivas maybe.

  7. Thats okay I gave up making valve sets that sometimes worked once transistors came of age. But I bow to your evident knowledge of the various makes and models of commercial stuff.:D

  8. New-fangled FM only got going in the UK in the mid-fifties ;)...

  9. That would figure as I inherited a Philips L1x75T, a positively tiny, or so it seemed to us on the far side of the pond, transistor radio that my dad had picked on a trip to Eindhoven. That would have been around 1958. I put some batteries in it the other day to see if it still worked..it did.

  10. Tranny sets normally survive

  11. It is indeed! Embrace that geekdom. I love old radios.
