  2. i have one , they work, look smart but are a tad heavy . BUT easy to fit , just need to get roof springs sorted although the new springs they supply arnt really strong i used a temporay steady if very windy etc ,ill put a pic up in a mo for you .

  3. Great thanks that's really kind of you

  6. and this cap will fit directly onto the black original roof.
Do you have any pics of the props you have made to accommodate the weight of this roof?
Just thinking about the amount of effort to make the props...

  7. mine are just timber quick jobies i did have but think ive deleted off my bucket , you say your roof is black ? can you put a pick of it up ?

  8. so its like that but someone has covered it in black canvas yeh ? The props are really easy to make i can get pic for you tomorrow , are you going for cap with or without roof light ? they are a bit of a faff to fit and if you dont need one i wouldnt bother , i fitted one but you have to cut hole then seal tube /tunnel opening in new roof .??

So's mine, I thought that's how they were?

  10. I have a square roof light in the current fitting so guess i will continue with this. Unless as you say it's hard to fit in which case i'll ditch it...lol

  11. me too, but seem to be getting quite a bit of water from the roof above the rear windows and have a new kitchen installed this year so am keen to try and resolve asap.
If this is the original roof is there something I can do to prevent the leaks or is it a "cap" from JK which will set me back the best part of £400

  12. you can refurb it , im not saying these are better than a proper refurb but i dont have to worry if it *******iz down now nor if i want to walk on the roof but what ever floats your boat as they say .

Sorry I don't know. Luckily mine looks like it had been refurbished when I got it and I hope it doesn't leak. It's been indoors for the 5 years I've had it.
The reason the cap is so expensive is because it's time consuming to take them apart and fix them properly but faced with £400 it must be worth putting some time into finding out exactly where the water's getting in.

Though as Barney says, easy to fit, job done, no messing, no more leaks.

  15. Cool thanks for your help guys, I'll be investigating where the water is coming in with some watering cans and then re-analyse whether the 400 sheets is a good shout.
Considering the price of the full interior i have now re-kitted 400 is definitely worth it. but i'll lock it away for now and try and work it out myself for a few weeks first.
    Cheers chaps

  16. it was white crazed like that one in pic and the seals were fcukd and it leaked all round the roof light n it peed me off :D , and i got mine cheaper think it was 350 ? and i was wanting to use it in english summer time too :D

  17. trubs is if it is leaking and you get the watering can out you might get stuff very wet testing it too or trap water where you dont want it ;)

^That's a good point, I was forgetting the interior. Fit and forget for the roof cap, I'm surprised the springs supplied aren't up to it?

  19. Once I had taken my roof off there was some obvious places where water was getting in. The corners are a bad place, mine had a 5mm gap that I welded up (pics in my resto thread) also there's some holes in the front that the bunk brackets fitted in, I welded them up too.
