  3. many cultures fast as part of faith systems but it would appear that it also had to do with wider health benefits. for example, fasting before a bout of chemotherapy can protect the healthy cells and lessen the crappy affects post thereapy! how crazy, fantastic is that! ok, so it has to be done with medical guidance etc but the fact that fasting for a couple of days (non-consecutive) can alter our biochemistry and give our bodies the chance to repair cells is bloody amazing in my book! (i come from a long line of bad cells) :)

  4. Only trouble is sometimes the fasting is immediately followed by feasting:D

  5. of course! :D i've never done the 5:2 thing but know folk who have, and they say that they don't eat as much after a fast day as they thought they would.
i used to forget to eat and as a result fasted and it made me feel better at too, i guess it was my cells way of telling me they needed to do some maintenance?

  10. Tuesday wildchild

    Tuesday wildchild I'm a circle!

I do find that if I only eat when hungry I eat less as I don't start eating as soon as I get up, so this pushes the next meal latter in day. We all eat to much but its gooooooood.

  11. I know everyone who has a passion will extol the virtues of it, but when I got seriously into cycling about 4 years ago, I shifted 3 stone easily.....now, I can ride a bike for a few hours, and eat and drink what I want. I do around 500k a month, and have about that many calories in beer and bacon....la good trade off!

  12. Im with Mr @zed on this - if its not fatbustin its the excercise monster - or keeping her company when shes running!!! That might work eventually but Gym buddy......I think not!

  13. had the same idea when I turned 50...its just taking a couple of years to sink in!
