cheers mate, that's what it is, i've just looked and there are at least 5 or 6 jobs i've 3/4 done and then left, as you say the water ingress problem once solved will hopefully spur me on, if it's wet in there tomorrow i'll be suicidal though..... again i feel real selfish as some of you guys have major problems that i couldn't even attempt so i know i'm being daft really.

  3. I'm in the middle of painting the whole bus and I can't be bothered to flat down, so much sanding.....I......must.......keep........going......

  4. I also think its down to the type of job you are doing.

I've spent what seems like ages trying to work out what is wrong with my FI system and it's been frustration after frustration painstakingly working through things little bit by little bit. I know it's time we'll spent as I now think I've got to the bottom of it and I've learnt a lot in the process but what have I actually got to show for it? Absolutely nothing, the van looks the same now as when I started and it still doesn't work.

That is what makes me not want to bother.

However, contrast that with today and ive cracked on with some wiring, flooring and made some units, all have a visible effect on the van and I'm a happy chappy.

  5. Feel for you Ricky! I am on major resto and deffo in manic stage as well up for it but have deffo had some lows! I think what gets you down is things not working! So in your case you have spent a lot of time on windscreen and hadn't worked! That is the worst and soul destroying!

Don't feel bad about your feelings or guilty just get the windscreen sorted then tackle each Job one at a time and you will rediscover the love!

    Good luck!

  6. i dont tinker with pinky anymore ... stu has got her working spot on - so i just leave her to be enjoyed and slowly rust away in peace :)

the thing is if you don't keep on top of them they will just rust and then it's serious money, i'm not joking when i say it's been in the u.k 13 months and only outside for 10 of them, yet i suspect more rust has surfaced in that time than the 33 years in california, the problem is they can swallow all your money as i'm sure you all know, so i too, to a degree am just going to use it but it still needs tlc or it will need major work sooner than my 5 year plan. i have a plan in my head to keep on top of little patches until my loan is finished then divert the cash i've been paying to getting it sympathetically restored for the next 5 years before a complete resto in 10.... i'm sure it's a pipe dream but i guess it could happen.

  8. I originally wanted to do a full restoration next year for pinkys 40th - but that have to wait till my 40th instead ...

Until then as long as she runs and is manageable on repairs year on year I'm happy.

I'd rather be out using her than worrying these days

God, what a load of simpering self-pitying arse!
Marowaks got it right, drive it around until it drops to pieces, you'll be bored of it by then anyway and save you spending thousands in the meantime.

You may know I've had buses for about 20 years. Let it rot and enjoy yourself, we could have had a luxury holiday every year if we hadn't had a bus and tried to keep on top of it.

Going to let mine fall apart as I wont be able to afford the petrol in 10 yrs so cant see the point.
