  1. As expected an extension to the lockdown. How is everyone coping?
Is the list of jobs going down or like mine keeps being added to. Not by me

Still busy doing odd jobs .... this is where having a bus helps with boredom... to be fair, weather is a bit of a bonus.

Yes and at the end of lockdown, we will still be asked to keep our distance .

If you are employed in the leisure industry in an indoor activity, we could be talking late 2021 before you can go to the pub, restaurant, cinema or the gym. It may be time to start thinking of a new career.

  5. Unfortunately it looks like most pensions are going down the Marmiteter so unless you’ve already made the jump your probably goosed! The light at the end of my tunnel is getting dimmer!

3 weeks...What they mean is "nobody knows" but someone will always make you quote a number.

  9. I think we may see further extensions of 3 weeks at a time and probably any form of mass gathering may be after mass vaccination, at least well into 2021. We have to be patient and go with the advice, any slippage carries a big risk of a mass outbreak which could go out of control and cause huge number of deaths. So keep calm folks, non key workers stay at home. Loss of jobs or income is a blow, many folks like me have experienced redundancy, illness and the rest causing real hardship, but these things can be overcome with the will and determination and being willing to change and adapt to the new Britain after Covid 19.

Stay at homes have no reason to moan about their lot, my neighbour Jon works long shifts on the front line at the hospital, working longer hours as many other staff are either off sick or sadly some have died.

Its not a time to fret over future pensions or money anyway, time for folks to get life in perspective and learn what really matters.

  11. Thats fine if your with some savings or retired with a pension but if you are living on the edge financially before this started then you may be another poverty statistic before this is over. There exists a relationship between unemployment/poverty/health so throw away lines about money and health are easy to make, we should all remember those less fortunate.

Over the years I employed lots of people who lived week by week no matter how much money they earned. Quite a few just went out and bought more stuff they didn't really need.
Even guy's who earned well over £1k/ week still asked to be paid early.
Some never learn and will be in a proper hole at the minute.

Having been retired almost 2 years and looking after grandson from day one I looked forward to him talking and having a conversation .
Strange now that I don't look after him because his mum has to stay off work , he is starting to talk like a good un and I am missing out on it .
Strange what you miss isn't it.

I think a vaccine will become available (its reading like a collaboration is working on one as we speak) but it will have to be proven safe for mass use and thorough testing will be required before hand.

A company called Gavi certainly wants one to be available globally which is their goal, mass vaccination.

  19. My view is that it can’t go on for months, whatever the situation. The long-term damage to the economy and life in general will be too great.

The cure will be worse than the disease.
