  5. Hey guys really sorry with late replied. Been mad busy at work. I'm in the Wiltshire area. I took it to a normal garage where the manager owns a t2 so thought he'd know. I'm going in on Monday to get more info of the issue he thought it was the carbs tried new ones. Couldn't get it to work so he took it two other garages for advise. As I said I'll go in on Monday take a video of it running. But if it means getting a replacement engine from just kamper I don't want to flip the bill twice for installing. And thank you all so much for your time with this really appreciate it

This is why I advise taking it to my local unfriendly garage, they hate me, I hate them....we all know where we stand from the go then....

Reading this,i'll bet the old one was ok,sounds like someones just trying to get you to spend your money.Do you know anything about VW engines?,If you dont, then a lot of people will just take you for a mug.

  11. I'd say the same. If they didn't know what was wrong with the old one, they'll likely just have transferred the problem across.

I really don't understand why you would place any faith at all in a diagnosis by a mechanic who doesn't know what the problem is.

"Well, I've no idea what's wrong with your campervan engine, (and neither do my mates) but I think you should buy a new one." said a good garage man......never.

You're right bob most garages don't have the first idea about old stuff, I take my bus to the same garage every year for it's MOT, the guy who tests it does'nt really understand old buses ;) He thinks I know my stuff ;) He passes my bus after asking me advice most years

  14. Yeah is a bloody nightmare the camper completely die big noise. Took it to this garage because I know he owns a t2 so thought he'd have a good knowledge of them. He told me to buy a just kamper engine so I did. Replace the engine put it though it's mot but said it wasn't idling correctly so tried new carbs. And still isn't running correctly took it to two other local garages with them both in being stumped. Now have pay him 770 ish pounds for camper that still doesn't work right if get just kamper to replace it I'm going to have to pay someone to fit it

They won't replace it if no-one can prove there's anything wrong with it! I bet it's fine, it's just been fitted by someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
    Does it drive?

Unfortunately for me my MOT guy knows everything about VW's and old vehicles in general so I don't get away with anything.
The garage he works in is owned by Cyril who must be at least 70 and wanders around what was originally his dads garage with a permanent fag going. He would far rather remove something and fix it than just replace with new.

He constantly takes the Micky out of my van when it's in for its MOT but then makes me a coffe and chats about how the engines going.

  17. I'll find out on Monday exactly what's the issue and why I'm paying 776 for repairs on something that isn't repaired

    Put simply:
DON'T PAY anything until it is fixed.
