we need a bigger place so our house has just gone up for sale. Next we have to brace ourselves for complete strangers exploring our home and nit-picking every tiny little thing . Has to be done though. Anyway, we're busy tidying up and doing those few little odd repair jobs that never got done earlier. We want people who come for a view to know they can move into good solid house. So, to seal the deal, which Reed Diffuser should we buy? And how many oversized candles in the hearth?

  12. could you arrange for a lovely neighbour to 'happen to pop round' with some freshly baked scones?

  13. Most people will see the cosmetics and won't see the important stuff, because that's what people do. It makes no difference that they will decorate again when they move in, appearances count. So get the paint out and make it look nice. Bathroom and kitchen must be presentable as well, people don't want to feel they have to do these jobs and it will knock loads off the price. New cheap crap units / bathroom is better than faded and tatty good quality in the eyes of most buyers. Think superficial and you won't go wrong.

Don't forget the coffee! Bacon and cakes also add a comfort feel.

And try not to mention that the next door neighbour is a drummer in a heavy metal band!

Should the Athena poster of the tennis lass showing her bum come off the wall too? Mind it is hiding a patch of dry rot......
