Followed a nice one yesterday 2.0 laser, looking very unmolested and clean , driven by a 'lady of a certain age' . I'd like to think she'd had the car as a teenager and garaged it since - t'was a proper time capsule ... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
In fairness, I'd prefer a Mk3 Cortina... But have you seeeeeeeeen the price??! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-COR...011511?hash=item3da8bdbaf7:g:068AAOSwUxxfIEhV
I have always loved the porsche 356 speedster - my equal love is a dino 246 gt/s I was so close to buying a factory chesil replica back in the day before a house move spent my 'car fund'... I had never had a classic VW engine before then but at the time it came with an Arnie Levics 1800cc lump rated at 9ohp. One day...
A 356 or a Dino. ....expensive taste then!! I like the look of the Chesil. ..like you say "one day " maybe.
I'm guessing, that if you've sat in one, you're about five foot nothing & have no comprehension of ergonomics. And if you haven't, and/or you're a bit taller, you'd be better off liking the look of something else instead.
Sorry Sarah I'm with Snotts on this one. Mk3s were a bit too chavvy for me, but I find the Mk2 a bit too boxy. What I'd give to have my Mk1 1500gt back. I was my first rally car and had a Burton Blueprint engine, 2000e box and a LSD. Boy did it shift.
nightmares of holidays as kid sat in the back of one lucky it got written off when a reliant robin went up the back of it. Unfortunately dad decided to buy one of these to replace it oh the shame.
Ghastly. He could’ve bought a Cavalier/Ascona, which had proper suspension and didn’t look like an old biscuit tin. If anything showed that the British car industry was done for, it was the Marina.
My Dad had a mkI 1500 Estate with hot cams and carbs that he used to ‘rally’, when local motoring clubs called tearing around country lanes at night ‘rallying’. He replaced that with a ‘71 mkIII 2000 GXL which we drove occasionally, which actually went really well! The Pinto engine was a peach. My brother trashed it in a ditch. Proper abandoned car on my regular ride a few years back: It’s a fair bit worse now, and so overgrown I can barely see it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
