  1. heaven :)

  2. Or hell. I think you would need to throw a lot of time and money into any vehicle that came out of there

  3. From experience ,that fella is hell on earth to get any part from .

    I'm guessing he's a bit mentally challenged.

  5. I've been there. I was tipped off a couple of years ago. The place was hidden away and then they started clearing trees for some kind of development (holiday homes I think) and a mate of mine (an Imp owner) spotted some interesting stuff.

I headed up there with the intention of returning with the single cab. I met the owners (slightly weird story about who owns what....some family thing). I asked if I could take a look around.

Now, I'm up for a challenge...but after spending a couple of hours there all I came away with was photographs. A very depressing place for a car fan. You need to bear in mind these cars were parked there as scrap many, many moons ago. The single cab is a lost cause, there is nothing left of it...the chassis is like a rusty cobweb and it has bodge upon bodge for some kind of homemade wide bed type thing.

The only thing that spiked my interest was the G reg double slider but again I walked away. Totally gone....being parked in a field for 20 years ain't no barn find! There was also a type 3.....that had collapsed into itself.

    The weather has claimed them!

I'll try and dig out the specific VW pics from my external drive if I get a chance.

  6. Aha! Hang onto your hats....I've found them. Prepare to be disappointed!

Like I said, I've been at this game for over 20 years and I walked away. These photos were taken about 5 years ago I think. The day I went I was told the split screen camper I'd been told about has just been pulled out by some guys and another one had been chopped up for spares.

  9. And (I reckon its a Scottish scene???) there is a.n.other bloke in Scotland who has parked on land adjacent to his house ,(remote location) more of those (I think) Russian cars they drove during the "cold years" the ones made of ,dunno, wood? he has stacks of them ,all rotting away ,in a field ! harmless ,I suppose?

All that'll happen is they'll all die and it'll cost a fortune to clean the land up.

  11. What are the finned 5 stud drums that are on the bed of the scab off??

    Early late porsche ??

  12. That's criminal.

  13. There is rumour there is something similar in Norfolk, a scrap yard which closed and the owenr will not let anyone in , the above is heart breaking. A round a year ago popped into my local library to pick up a book i had order on campers, a chap asked me about it and I explained I was saving to buy one, he said oh are they easy to get done up and I explained yes and no depending on state and of course cost is a factor. He told me he had a barn door sitting in his field , it had been there for a few years and he had not the heart to let it go , I hinted ALOT but to no avail

I don't really understand the hoarding mentality at all. If they've got 30 years of old newspapers in their house then that's ok but there must be so many spares there that people are desperate for just rotting away. Such a shame.

  15. Still plenty of money to be had in that little lot!

Bound to be some salvageable parts but I doubt it'd be worth saving any of the buses.

  17. There is one near me or was, about a mile off the A40 at Andoversford, not sure whats in there tho

  18. Theres a guy with a yard not far from me in Suffolk who breaks vag cars, went to get some stuff for my T4 and asked about a mk2 golf ( I saw about 10 ) and was told he will only sell them when prices rise, they are in the open slowly rotting!! no air cooled a few t4s ( wont break any more of them either ) some mk1 golfs in bits , several mk2s , a couple of t25s!! huge place inc a lock up. shame to see it all rot!!

  19. I done regular work (truck) for a company at Heathrow, getting into /out of the yard was a nightmare (yard was shared with other Co.) due to the parking of several parked but falling to bits, very high end cars e.g. a roller, a jag etc , some of the drivers would accidently prange these vehicles and so have to go and tell the receptionist at other company ,nowt ever came of it, turns out one of the fellas working there owned them all (there were a lot more)but never either moved or serviced/maintained them,he simply bought them ,parked them and basically abandoned them<fine ,I never and still don" t get that ?
