i've asked the guy on ebay who matty linked if he has a 6a type b i've looked on cef as well and i can't see any - but in fairness i'm not 100% sure i'm doing it right.
What sink an arth rod everybtime you camp. Yep, thats gonna work. The earth rod is, or should be at the distribution point.
i'm lost now, to me there's a shed load of stuff online listed for "caravans" that even i now can tell are single pole mcb's and here is a double that for what i can tell shows type c? breakers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Deluxe-Ca...332448?hash=item23401a7a60:g:mKUAAOxyzi9SmHQL how many campers must be wrong? what will a type c do then?
type c delays the tripping a bit, they are used on motors and banks of fluorescent lighting as the start up current can be high a local wholesaler should be able to order you a 6amp one if the ebay seller cant i am pretty sure the extreamvan one is 2 pole most motorhomes come with proper distribution systems but they are a bit over the top for our vans, the market for a small system for our type of vans is very limited so most seam to just fit whats easily available
found you a 6amp but not cheep http://osmelectrical.com/electrical...a-dpn-mcb-rated-curve-type-b/19250/48751.html http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/miscellaneous/2509330417/ looking at the picture of the one on http://www.xtremevan.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=5088 it is the right mcbs so i would go that one, i have fitted a few in the past and they where right then
cheers, i was trying to get 3 breakers in and most of the camper ones have 2 but it isn't a big issue. cheers.
i'm on a quest now. there must be 100's of "dangerous" campers out there. i emailed a seller on evil bay this unit clearly says caravan and you can choose your breaker http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251169479...1&exe=12742&ext=32470&sojTags=exe=exe,ext=ext so i asked for a double pole set up we don't supply doubles came the reply
@Dicky suggested I could use an RCBO. I have a socket and the charger both wired into it. Nowt else in my box.
Only after receiving a drawing highlighting known underground services and issuing a detailed set of Rams ..of course
another e bay reply, this time me asking if type c should be in a camper box I am a electrical engineer of 37 years and you can use type C breakers as long as you have a main RCD protection in the source of the supply and the cable runs in campervan are shorter than in a house a type C would be ok to use as the tripping Zs of the cable would be very low resistance and would balance a Type B disconnection time.
It get worse if you look at the plug it has no BS number no CE mark but does have 125v 15amp marked on it and he works in the industry http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Early-Bay-T2-Westfalia-RV-US-Power-Hook-Up-Lead-/141883437700?
We saw that crop up a few weeks ago didn't we matty. It's really bad news these people are allowed to get away with it! Buyer beware I suppose
http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/350655775520 This person messaged me back and confirms its double pole, only thing is its 5/10a I'm still set on 3 curcuits
