oh poo, i wish i'd have known, i only got the 2 new breakers today - i just went for the same as was in - it originally had a 6 and a 32, i knew 32 was to big so got a 10 and 16.

  3. You may have trouble finding double-pole breakers. No demand for 'em, see?

so "not compliant" is that "illegal" or "the latest bit of advice"? if we had been talking say 5 years ago or whatever it would be fine? or should i bin it off?

you've lost me? how can there be no demand if what i have isn't good enough?

  6. It means "might possibly be dangerous, possibly, if the Frenchies on your campsite have wired the mains backwards and you, possibly, have a fault condition". Buy a plug-in mains tester for a few quid if you're concerned.

  7. Because most DIN rail breakers are for domestic installation where you know (hopefully) that the mains is wired the right way round, so single pole is fine.

i wasn't until i read this lol.... ignorance is bliss - i wanted to do this van right - in my bay i just had a bloody tent one under the bed....

  9. what time will you be around

  10. you cant plug a British tester into a French plug ,and if you connect up and then test it will already be to late ,so you'll. Need a French tester on a lead or plugged into just a lead before connecting to the van

so basically the single pole are 100% safe if you know the wiring is correct from supply, which of course given the fact some sites have a bit ropey looking supply posts you don't..... but it's only really dangerous if the condition of the kit you actually own is crap or trapped in something etc?

  15. but that could be to late ,now we will all have to buy Chinese testers for French sites that comply with the latest BS

there seems a hell of a lot of these "garage" types (like mine) advertised online as "caravan/outbuilding/shed" etc and not double pole, is there no legal cover to stop this?

the problem is its the installer that gets it not the supplier and unless they know the electrical regs well Campers have there own section.
Also like a lot of things like this its works fine until something goes wrong and someone gets hurt

cheers matty, so the e-bay one you link is ok as it's only one space, do you know if there's a 10a and a 6a double pole? i've got 3 spaces and would like to do it right.
