It wouldn't be startling, over 15 seconds, under 20. I might have done it on another thread. Can't do it now - it's my shed and full of heavy crud so too slow.
yes scooby 2.5 with scooby gearbox and 4.4:1 final drive. oi reckon its under 10 seconds in reality but never really tried that hard
It wasn't designed for acceleration, it designed for torque. A stock 2L has just over 80ft/lb peak, mine has 180. There's 25l of coolant, cast iron boat parts, tools. The MOT man said it weighed over 2 tons.
Never timed it, but I had a 7 year old cross-over 1600 it wasn't a lot quicker than your time if i'm honest.
I drove one of the very last 2l panel vans (empty) with under 10,000 on the clock, it went like hot snot. With half a dozen people in it, it still went like hot snot.
I recon there will be a vast difference from a stripped out panel van and a laden camper. I would be interested to get them both on a weigh bridge to see how much extra weight we actually carry. Having said that ours was originally a minibus so must have carried a fair weight fully loaded.
It is. That's at 1800rpm where it has 70hp which is the same as a 2l flat out. My peak HP is only 102 but I always have 70-100hp generally driving about - As the revs drop off the torque takes over ensuring the power does not. It's relaxing to drive.
0-60 in..... "However long it takes, no rush, enjoy the ride, too much rushing in life, ooh look at that, what's that noise, maybe I'll put some new rubber there, mm, what a lovely day."
I do get that too. I've had my 1600 times, it's a different experience where atempting to be in a hurry gets you precisely nowhere so you don't try. Many people rightly cherish that forced chill out and why not. I enjoyed it too...for a while. What I enjoy now is that I can choose - If I go into extreme pottering mode other road users get what they expect and everyone's happy, but I can overtake without a half mile run up too and rarely have to down shift looking for power. For me this is more relaxing than having procession of frustrated motorists up my bumper.
