Apparently they are capable of going as fast in reverse as they can forwards with the variomatic transmission
Yes, and it worked as limited slip diff, and with the transmission over the rear wheels they were quite good on snow.
It's a DAF 66 coupe, the 66 was an evolution of the 55 but when Volvo bought DAF they dropped the coupe from the range and only made it as a saloon or estate
Definitely not, the Volvo grille has a diagonal bar across it though very similar otherwise. It was never built as a coupe by Volvo. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
The vinyl roof, if original, says it's a Humber Imperial which was an upmarket version of the Humber Super Snipe. The Imperial and Snipe had a 6 cylinder engine whereas the cheaper Hawk was a 4 cylinder version in the same body
There were apparently about 8 built by Rootes with Chrysler V8 engines of either 5.1 litre or 4.5 litre capacity. Never put into production but were used around the works and some are believed to have survived.
I loved that “Saints car” got really excited when Volvo said they were reintroducing it… very disappointed with what came out… so much so can’t remember name C 30 or similar, not bad but could have been sooo much better
