That's brilliant! A whole refurb based on new cushion covers! You'll get on great with Mrs Monkey hahahahahaha
When you make a bed with hinges you can get inserts a bit like rivnuts but for wood that lock themselves into the ply and use M6 fixings.
Hmmmmm in retrospect that probably did sound slightly more 'blonde' than it was supposed to....! I'm not sure getting a bed that works properly qualifies as a whole refurb, but in the main, yes, guilty as charged
& I still don't know why these aren't included, along with machine screws, in a hinge kit. but good shout with the pic Zed. Should help a few peeps make a bed that lasts!
They could look here too. http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/timber-rock-and-roll-bed-using-westy-hinges.34335/
haha forgotten about that in the same way I can't remember what I had for tea yesterday. Bottom line, spend on Continental hinges, with all the backing plates, use good quality board & foam to suit Or if you can't do that, do what you did!! As a side, I think the OG bed boards from an early late bay were not a current standard size. 21mm I think, but someone with a memory/brain may know better?
I really can't remember what I had to do. I'm sure I had to bond 2 sheets together to get the OG thickness. It could have been the supplier didn't do 22mm as most jump from 18 to 24??
You're doing it wrong or the catches are broken. When in bed mode, you should be able to lift the front of the seat part 90 degs and hear a click from each side as it locks in this position. Then push down to swing the whole thing back to a seat. You can do with one hand standing outside the van if you want.
Hmmm well that's a revelation. I don't think the hinges are broken so I will give this a try in a bit. Cheers! (I guess Early's are the same?)
