Haha yeah that wouldn't help would it. I filled her up yesterday. Although I have to say having an engine that's supposed to fit in a bay in a T25 proves challenging when trying to pull the dipstick IF I ever sell this van, it's going to need one very understanding buyer
Looks like youve used nyloc nuts on the thermostat bracket - not sure but they might over time melt away being right on the engine case - might want to keep an eye on them. Then again may not be a problem...
Well.....so far we're 50% happy. Cranked it over and over and got oil pressure with no leaks But.....with everything connected it won't start. I knew it would take a while due to no fuel in the carbs, but she won't fire up at all, just keeps turning. I took out plug no 1 and got my 9 year old assistant to crank it, and I get a spark so that's good. But I'm stumped as to why it won't fire up. Took filters off the carbs and operated throttle levers and can see fuel squirt. Any help appreciated
That's what I thought, but how can I set it without starting it? Or should I just turn the dizzy slightly whilst cranking?
Just checked the static timing and with no1 at tdc, scale read 7 deg to the right of zero, but the rotor arm was after no1 lead. I turned dizzy so they lined up but still didn't fire. Might be low battery now though after all the cracking for pressure and then all this trying to start. Put battery on charge for tomorrow
wind your pulley to the 7.5 btdc mark - you have set it to after top dead centre (atdc) then realign the dizzy to this. It may be you have got btdc and atdc muddled up
Ok, so go almost 360 deg round again, but stop before piston reaches tdc, when timing mark lined up with 7.5 btdc. Then rotate dizzy body to match rotor arm with no lead?
