Cheers @yorkieman :) the nimrod is XV250 at Elvington nr York, I'm on the Facebook group for it as my late Uncle flew them from ~81 to 2005 out of St Mawgen, Kinloss & Waddington. I had chance to go doing fast taxi runs with the guys a couple of weeks ago :)

  2. Hey @oilbath, Mines on 75 plates, its a 74, m-code is illegible and the hard stamp chassis plate in the engine bay has a disc welded over it so no numbers are visible.

I wrote the chassis number in there with a sharpie pen, but that was just to satisfy the MOT man. It's all legitimate, I know its history even before it arrived in the UK. It will always be traceable to me as I was the first owner in the UK.

I'd welcome anyone, law or otherwise to check it out.

I'd also welcome anyone on here or via any other media to make either direct or indirect libellous comments or insinuations against my stated facts. Minimum payout in a libel case is in the region of £300k, + costs. That would probably give me enough money to weld in a new chassis number plate with a bit of change
    :)

You should be more careful and a bit more forceful in your rebuke of a Troll

  3. Interesting, particularly as i worked first line on them at Kinloss 84 to 87 then St Mawgan 87 -89 then at Waddington until I retired in 2005. A small world as they say!

 indeed a small world! He was Flight Lieutenant Navigator (Richard Chelu) definitely on 51 Squadron at Waddo, would it be 201 for a while - I cant remember the St Mawgen one though!

  5. 42 Sqn and 236 OCU at St Mawgan. I streamed away from Nimrods at Waddington onto AWACs and ended up as an airborne technician on it, defintely worked extensively on operations with the 51 Sqn guys but, never really got to know many of them as they spent huge amounts of time away, quite hush hush!

Anyway loving the van, does the number on the chassis at the back contain the engine number is it that I need to get changed?

  6. I'm pretty much done with this whole site. I offered a helpful tip and still haven't heard the end of it. "troll"? -ridiculous. Get a clue.

Then why did he wade straight in here making insinuations before knowing the facts about one of our buses on his first post?

I just read through this from Oil's post down. I couldn't see any malice or nastiness at all. He was only pointing something out. So much for this so called welcoming TLB spirit that people bang on about.

  19. Well my bus is weird too with a flap and it's a 74 and no bugger bit fits that I ever buy (might be my shonky welding though!)

I think your bus looks great.

    Cheers
